听力原文:M: Hi! And welcome to another edition of "Crime Watch", the only talk- back radio
program that features real-life victims of crime and discusses ways to deal with it. And, our first caller is Sue. Hello Sue!

W: Hello !

M: Tell me, Sue. What happened to you?

W: I was involved in a bank robbery.

M: You weren't!

W: I certainly was !

M: Tell us what happened.

W: Well, I was just going to the bank, which I do every week, and I was standing in line waiting to be served, when suddenly this hooded man with a gun burst into the bank and started screaming and yelling for us all to put our hands up. So, we're all standing there with our hands up, while he forceed a teller to fill his bag with money. M: Wow! How long were you standing there like that for?

W: Not long. It all happened so quickly ! As soon as the robber had his bag full, he left, and the same teller who had filled his bag called the police. So we were all interviewed and had to testify.

M: You testified? You mean, they caught him?

W: They sure did. They gave him 10 years.

M: Wow! And, were you scared?

W: Absolutely. I was fearful !

M: So tell us, what's the best strategy when you're in a situation like that?

W: Well, I think the best thing to do is to stay calm. The robber might be armed, so you definitely don't want to panic-that would only attract attention to yourself. Also, don't make eye contact with the robber. All the banks have surveillance cameras, so let them do the work. And don't put up a fight-cooperate, give them whatever they ask for.

M: Well, that's very interesting advice, Sue. Now, if any of you listeners out there have advice, questions or comments for Sue, our staff are ready and waiting to take your call.

What does the radio program "Crime Watch" deal with?

A.It tries to arrest the criminals with the help of people.

B.It focuses on the description of the criminals.

C.It indicates that the society is not safe.

D.It aims to discuss ways to deal with crime.

M: Yeah?

M: I'll bet you were glad to get to Chicago.

W: That's the worst part. We never made it. Mary started feeling sick from all the heat, so Lisa tried driving faster to find Mary something to drink. To make a 10ng story short, the car broke down and we were stranded till this morning in some small town near the Indiana border.

听力原文:M: You're back. And right on schedule too. How was your holiday?

W: It was all right, I suppose.

M: You don't sound as though you enjoyed it very much. Where did you go?

W. I went home. I stayed with my family.

M: Where is your home?

W: It's in West Virginia. It's a quite small village in West Virginia. You know, going home really made me think how different my life would have been if I'd stayed there.

M: Why? What would you have done?

W: Well, first of all, I probably would have married the boy I went steady with while I was in high school.

M: Would it have been a mistake if you had married him?

W: It would have been different, that's all. If I had married him, I probably would have stayed there in West Virginia for the rest of my life.

M: Would that have been so bad?

W: I would never have come to the city. I never would have tried to get a job.

M: But you've come to the city and had several jobs.

W: That's true. The thing is that after all these years of working, I am still a secretary or assistant to someone. No transfer. No promotion. It's so annoying and frustrating. I didn't come all the way up to the city for that, did I?

M: Do you think you'll ever go back to West Virginia to live?

W: Someday, maybe, but not until I've had more experience. I'd like to know that I could have real career if I wanted to.

M: Well, the first step in a successful career is to get some work done. Here are some letters that have to be answered right away.

W: All right, I'll take care of them. But you just wait. Someday I might be your boss!
