听力原文: It's very necessary for Canada to set up effective transportation system because of its enormous size with its sparsely populated distribution. It is also very difficult to make transportation construction on the surface of the country due to its harsh long winter and its mountainous terrain. It's really amazing for this country to set up a transcontinental railroad since last century. Much of the country's freight is transported by Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway. But nowadays fewer and fewer people travel by train.
Water transportation was very important before railway construction. Although passenger travel by water is less important than before, waterways remain important for cargo transporting. Waterways include lakes, rivers and sea coastlines.
Because of the increasing number of automobiles, Canada's road transportation develops very quickly. In 1991, road length has been more than 849,400 kilometers. Road system is becoming more and more important. Trucks carry nearly half of the total freight transported in Canada.
With the development of transportation, airplanes became another necessary vehicle since airplanes could be the only access to some areas of the far northern region.
Canadian transportation system develops very quickly with the increasingly advanced science and technology. The aim of the transportation is to use substitute fuels and to produce more efficient transportation facilities.

C.The condition of transportation system in Canada.
D.The rapid progress of Canadian transportation.

I&39;m very happy to talk to you about how the City of Toronto endeavors to turn itself into agreen city in the process of economic integration with its surrounding cities. Toronto is amature municipality and has limited greenfield development potential.
The Greater Toronto Area has one of the most diversified economies. The largest economicsectors include aerospace, biomedical industry, food processing industry and business services.
Due to the urbanization, they have spanned across municipal boundaries. Therefore, measuresare taken to allow high value added business operations to locate within the City.
Traditional heavy manufacturing operations are relocated in the surrounding areas, where therealty taxes are lower and there is a plenty of available land for greenfield development.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was set up in 1988 to assess information on climate change and its impact. Its Third Assessment Report predicts global temperature rises by 2100 of between 1.4~C and 5.8~C. Although the issue of the. changing climate is very complex and some changes are uncertain, temperature rises are expected to affect countries throughout the world and have a knock-on effect with sea-level rises.
Scientists have argued about whether temperature rises are due to human activities or due to natural changes in our environment. The IPCC announced in 2001 that "most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is likely to be attributable to human activities". This was a more forceful statement than in 1996 when the Second Assessment Report stated that there was a "discernible human influence on the climate" which was the first time they had concluded such a link. Many experts believe the faster the climate changes, the greater the risk will be.
Key points of the projections for climate change globally include that by the second half of the 21st century, wintertime rainfall in the northern mid to high latitudes and Antarctica will rise, that meanwhile Australia, Central America and southern Africa are likely to see decreases in autumn precipitation, that some land areas in the tropics will see more rainfall, and that there will generally be more hot days over land areas.
IPCC probably does not______.
A.analyse climate change information
B.record weather changes on its premises
C.predict what is to happen to the earth
D.collect weather date from many countries

As a home entertainment, television rapidly became more popular than ally other form. A news broadcast be came more immediate when people could actually see the scene in question and the movements of the figures. Films could also be available. One of the advantages of travel programs was the glimpse of far-away places which many viewers would not otherwise have seen. Through much of the entertainment was of a popular kind like quiz competitions, some remarkable cultural programs were also broadcast. Just as with radio in earlier days, a group of actors and actresses became familiar in every household. One of the most popular programs on television was sport and an interesting result of the television broadcast was the increased attendance at the actual events. How far this was due to a growth in interest in the game and how far out of the peoples desire to appeal on the screen is not clear.

Now ordinary experience tells us, beyond doubt, that a situation where labor stipulates (within limits) for a money-wage rather than a real wage, so far from being a mere possibility, is the normal case. Whilst workers will usually resist a reduction of money- wages, it is not their practice to withdraw their labor whenever there is a rise in the price of wage-goods. It is sometimes said that it would be illogical for labor to resist a reduction of money-wages but not to resist a reduction of real wages. For reasons given below, this might not be so illogical as it appears at first; and, as we shall see later, fortunately so. But, whether logical or illogical, experience shows that this is how labor in fact behaves.
Moreover, the contention that the unemployment which characterizes a depression is due to a refusal by labor to accept a reduction of money-wages is not clearly supported by the facts. It is not very plausible to assert that unemployment in the United States in 1932 was due either to labor obstinately refusing to accept a reduction of money-wages or to its obstinately demanding a real wage beyond what the productivity of the economic machine was capable of furnishing. Wide variations are experienced in the volume of employment without any apparent change either in the minimum real demands of labor or in its productivity. Labor is not more truculent in the depression than in the boom-far from it. Nor is its physical productivity less, These facts from experience are a prima facie ground for questioning the adequacy of the classical analysis.
"Labor is not prepared to work for a lower money-wage". The sentence means ______.
A.a fall in the value of the existing money-wage would lead to a withdrawal of labor
B.a rise in the price of wage-goods would lead to a withdrawal of labor
C.the demand of labor is for a rise of existing money-wage
D.the demand of labor is for reduction in the value of real wages
