听力原文: It is often necessary to release a fish, that is, set it free after catching,
because it is too small, or you just dont want to take it home to eat. In some cases, releasing fish is a good measure that will help keep fish variety and build their population size. The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries(DGIF)encourages fishermen who practise catch-and-release fishing to use a few simple skills when doing so. The advice provided below will help make sure that the fish you release will survive to bite again another day. — When catching a fish, play it quickly and keep the fish in the water as much as possible. Dont use a net in landing the fish and release it quickly to prevent it from dying. — Hold the fish gently. Do not put your fingers in its eyes. Dont wipe the scales off the fish because it might cause it to develop a disease and reduce its chance of survival. — Remove your hook quickly. If the hook is too deep or hooked in the stomach, cut the line and leave the hook in. The hook left inside will cause no serious problem to the fish. — Take good care of the fish by moving it gently in water. Release the fish when it begins to struggle and is able to swim. — Do not hold fish in a bucket or some other containers and later decide to release it. If you are going to release a fish, do so right away. With a little care and by following the suggestions given above, you can give the released fish a better chance of survival. Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard. 22. Why do people sometimes set a fish free after catching it? 23. Which will probably make a fish ill? 24. What is the proper way to release a fish? 25. What is the purpose of the passage?23.

A.Touching its eyes.

B.Taking the hook off it.

C.Removing its scales.

D.Holding it in your hand.

Ever spent half an hour looking for your car keys? Or walked into a room only to wonder wh
at you walked in there to look for? Or forgotten what day of the week it is? Not to worry. Occasional memory lapses are normal and not, as you might secretly fear, an early sign of Alzheimers disease. Still, its sometimes difficult even for doctors to recognize where normal forgetfulness stops and more serious memory problems begin. A guidebook published recently by the American Medical Association should make the job easier. The text, Diagnosis, Management and Treatment of Dementia : A Practical Guide for Primary Care Physicians, is somewhat technical but contains a lot of useful information. You can order the guide for $ 5 by calling 1-312-464-5563. Most cases of dementia, or prolonged mental confusion are usually caused by Alzheimers disease. But you should also look for memory problems caused by taking one or more medications. The combination of Tagamet and Valium, for example, can cause a build-up of the tranquilizer in the body. So be sure to tell your doctor every medication you or a loved one is taking, including over-the-counter medicine and dietary supplements. Dont overlook depression. Social isolation or the death of friends and family can shatter anyones mental state but it is particularly difficult to bear with advancing age. Even patients with clear-cut dementia and depression are less confused when their depression is treated. Dont give up even if you or a loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimers disease. Although there is no cure yet there is still a lot you can do to ensure the best quality of life. Start by having a frank conversation about treatment options, and appoint someone as a health-care proxy to make sure those plans are carried out. Most patients with early Alzheimers can still make good decisions about their future care. There are several clinical trials currently studying various treatments. An intriguing one will determine whether vitamin E or an Alzheimers drug called Aricept can prevent dementia from developing in people who are at greater risk of developing Alzheimers disease because they have what is called mild cognitive impairment. To learn more about these clinical studies visit www. alzheimers. org/trials. If you are caring for someone with dementia, be sure you also take care of yourself. You might want to check out the website of the U. S. Alzheimers Association(www. alz. org)for more information. Whether you suffer dementia or love someone who does, the condition is difficult enough to cope with without trying to face it alone.

What is the authors purpose of writing this passage?

A.To define what Alzheimer"s disease is.

B.To tell people how to avoid Alzheimer"s disease.

C.To provide information related to a book on dementia.

D.To persuade people to buy medicine for dementia.

听力原文:W: What are you reading now? M: Im looking at this beauty in the picture. Look!
Shes really pretty, isnt she? Her skin looks so smooth! W: Well, its just that she puts lots of make-up on her face. Actually, natural beauty comes from within. And you know nowadays the camera work is so artificial. M: Ah, yeah, I can smell jealousy in the air! W: Oh, no. She has nothing that deserves my jealousy. I dont have to put things on my face and I still look pretty. Dont you think so? M: Yeah, right! But what did you put on your face last night, those little greenish things? W: Theyre cucumbers. M: What? I know that cucumber is a kind of vegetable rich in vitamin A. How is it used on the skincare? W: Well, it is a fashion nowadays that women tend to use the natural vegetables on the skincare. And they are much better than any chemical products. M: Really? Then what does the cucumber do for you? W: Theyre natural skin smoothers, natural healers of the skin. Havent you heard that...er... cucumber goes far beyond mere tightening the skin? Most people agree that taxes must be paid. Government couldnt run without money. So people
dont argue against taxes. They just argue about how taxes should be collected. At present the federal government works with a "progressive tax". The tax covers a percentage of peoples wages. Not everyone pays the same percentage of his salary in taxes. Taxpayers fall into different "tax brackets" depending on their income. Poor people are in a low tax bracket. They pay the smallest percentage of income in taxes. Middle income workers pay a larger percentage than the poor. And the rich fall into the high tax brackets. Few rich people like the progressive tax. The government took a poll. Among other people, the government talked to Ray Mathers and Eve Winick. "Lets change to a flat rate tax," says Ray Mather. "Everyone should be taxed the same percentage. Its fair. And its easy to figure out. " Mathers is president of Trig Computer Company. He makes over $ 80 000 a year. "I dont want a flat rate income tax," says Eve Winick. Winick is a grammar school teacher. Her school is in a poor neighborhood. She makes $ 14 000 a year. "I dont care if its easier to figure out. What I want to know is, would I pay less tax?" Winick worries about her students parents. "Some of them can hardly support themselves. Why should they pay heavier taxes? Theyre the people who need government services. " Mathers thinks a flat rate would help in the long run. "The country could lower taxes after a while. See, if I paid fewer taxes, Id save money. Id put that money into my business and hire more people. Those people could pay taxes. Everybody would be better off. " Questions:

According to the progressive tax, who should pay the highest percentage of their income in taxes?

A.The rich.

B.The poor.

C.The middle class.

D.The lower class.

听力原文: Tom was one of the brightest boys in the year, with supportive parents. But w
hen he was 15 he suddenly stopped trying. He left school at 16 with only two scores for secondary school subjects. One of the reasons that made it cool for him not to care was the power of his peer group. The lack of right male role models in many of their lives — at home and particularly in the school environment — means that their peers are the only people they have to judge themselves against. They dont see men succeeding in society so it doesnt occur to them that they could make something of themselves. Without male teachers as a role model, the effect of peer actions and street culture is all-powerful. Boys want to be part of a club. However, schools can provide the environment for change, and provide the right role models for them. Teachers need to be trained to stop that but not in front of a childs peers. You have to do it one-to-one, because that is when you see the real child. Its pointless sending a child home if he or she has done wrong. They see it as a welcome day off to watch television or play computer games. Instead, schools should have a special unit where a child who has done wrong goes for the day and gets advice about his problems — somewhere he can work away from his peers and go home after the other children. Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard. 22. Why did Tom give up studying? 23. What seems to have a bad effect on students like Tom? 24. What should schools do to help the problem schoolboys? 25. When is a teachers work most effective with a schoolboy?22.

A.Peer groups.

B.A special unit.

C.The student judges.

D.The home environment.

Questions 下列各 are based on the following passage. Amid a summer of record-setting he
at, a new survey fmds that most of Generation Xs (20世纪60年代到70年代初出生的美国人) young and middle-age adults are tminformed and unconcerned about climate change. Only about 5% of Gen Xers, now 32 to 52 years old, are "alarmed" and 18% "concerned" about climate change, reports the University of Michigans Institute for Social Research on Tuesday. Two-thirds, or 66% , of those surveyed last year said they arent sure global warming is happening and 10% said they dont believe its occurring. "Most Generation Xers are surprisingly disengaged, dismissive or doubtful about whether global climate change is happening and they dont spend much time worrying about it," said author Jon D.Miller. The report comes as several Obama administration officials have recently linked extreme weather to climate change. In a report last week, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration cited six weather events last year and said that atmospheric changes caused by the burning of fossil fuels made Texas heat wave, for example, 20 times more likely than it would have been in the 1960s. The Generation X survey of about 3,000 adults, the fourth in a continuing series, found a small butstatistically significant decline in Gen Xers attention to climate change. In 2011, 16% said they followed the issue very or moderately closely, down from 2296 in 2009. Why are Gen Xere so indifferent? The report, funded by the National Science Foundation, citesclimate changes complexity, pressing economic concerns and "issue fatigue". It finds educated adults tend to be more concerned about the issue. It also finds partisan (党派的) differences; nearly half ofliberal Democrats were concerned or alarmed compared to zero percent of conservative Republicans. Miller said he expected that, given climate changes expected impact on future generations, parents of young children would be more concerned than those without kids. "Not so," he said. " Generation X adults without minor children were. slightly more alarmed aboutclimate change than were parents. The difference is small, but it is in the opposite direction than weexpected. " Miller said the report suggests that while theres broad awareness of climate change, manyGen Xers prefer to focus on more immediate issues such as jobs and schools. What do we know about the Generation X according to the passage?

A.They are a group of people receiving little education.

B.They dont believe global warming will affect them.

C.They dont care very much about climate change.

D.They never think that climate change will happen.
