听力原文: Do you find getting up in the morning difficult and painful? This might be called laziness, but Dr. Kleiman has a new explanation. He has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle.
During me hours when you labor through your work you may say that you're "hot". That's true. The time of day when you feel most energetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak. For some people the peak comes during the forenoon. For others it comes in the afternoon or evening. No one has discovered why this is so. The possible explanation is that one is at his temperature-and-energy peak in the evening. Much family quarreling ends when husbands and wives realize what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family has.
You can't change your energy cycle, but you can learn to make your life fit it better. Habit can help, Dr. Kleiman believes. Maybe you're sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway. Counteract your cycle to some extent by habitually staying up later than you want to. If your energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do early in the day, rise before your usual hour. This won't change your cycle, but you'll get up and work better at your low point.
Get off to a slow start which saves your energy. Get up with a leisurely yawn and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed a minute before putting your feet on the floor. Avoid the trouble for clean clothes by laying them out the night before. Whenever possible, do routine work in the afternoon and save tasks requiring more energy or concentration for your sharper hours.

听力原文: Girls are more often the victims of child labor practices than boys. Many of them are forced to start work when they are only ten years old. Although the work they are given to do is often light, it often involves serious risks to the health. In one recent case, children as young as six years were found to be working in Asian factories, from eight to fourteen hours a day in overcrowded and unhealthy working conditions. Sometimes a whole family group is employed, with the payment going to a parent or older relative. The children, therefore, not only receive nothing or very little for their long hours of work, but also are prevented from attending school. When they become older, they are therefore, unable to do any other kind of work.

听力原文: All over the world people paused recently to remember a man whose work most of them could never understand. That man was Albert Einstein, and the occasion was the one hundredth anniversary of his birth. As a child, Einstein was quiet and withdrawn. His parents and some teachers even feared he might be backward. But when a relative showed the five-year-old Albert a compass, he was fascinated. He wondered what forces could be making the needle move. Later he wrote that at that very moment he began to wonder about the universe, and in 1921 Einstein received the Nobel Prize for his work on the concepts of TIME, SPACE and MATTER.
