听力原文:M: Daniel Tennyson, Production Department.

F: Good afternoon, Mr Tennyson. This is Debby Carneige from Smith & Black Shipping Company. It's about those two photocopiers we ordered last week.

M: Yes, you ordered two W2750.

F: That's right. They were supposed to be ready on Monday. But this is already Wednesday and we have heard nothing about it.

M: I am sorry, Miss Carneige. In fact, we have finished fixing most part of the machine last Friday. But the power was off on Monday because of overuse of wire. Then we had to get the wire replaced on Tuesday. But I promise that the machines will be ready by tomorrow.

F: OK, I hope it's no later than Thursday. You know, we are going to start a new office on Friday, so we need these photocopiers to start work. I'll call back and look into it again tomorrow morning.

M: Fine. I might be out tomorrow morning. If I am not here, speak to Mr Patridge, my assistant about it. He knows everything. I am sure he'll be of help.

F: Is that P-A-T-R-E-D-G-E?

M: No, that's P-A-T-R-I-D-G-E. He's new here, but he is a nice guy.

W: That's right. I noticed it's a 89 and wondered about its condition.

M: Well, it's in great shape. I've been the only driver, and all maintenance has been done according to the dates specified in the service manual.

W: The ad said it has air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission and a convertible top.

M: That's right. I forget to add that the tires and battery are all new, too. It has comprehensive insurance, with coverage for another six months.

W: Do you mind my asking why you're selling the car?

M: Oh, my company is transferring me to France next month. I plan to buy a new one over there.

Man: Good morning. My name's George Bliss. I'm the Financial Director of Arundel Holdings. I've got a query on our business account.

Woman: Just a moment. I'll get it up on screen. Can you give me the account number?

Man: Certainly. It's 456 - 30 - 421.

Woman: And your identification code?

Man: Hamlet.

Woman: Right, Mr Bliss. What's the problem?

Man: Well, I received a statement from you this morning and there's a difference between that and our records. The statement shows a debit of£15,000 on June 10th, but no one here signed anything for that amount, so I'd like to know what's going on.

Woman: Yes, mmm, here it is - £15,000. That's odd. It says cheque number 3-0-6-9-8-4.

Man: Yes, I can see that on the statement, but that can't be right. All our cheques begin with 5-0. It's not one of our cheques. You must have debited our account by mistake.

听力原文:W: Welcome to our programme, Mr Smith. M: Thank you. W: Mr Smith, how long have
you been a police officer? M: Ive been a police officer for thirty years. W: Thirty years. And youve had different types of assignments on the police force, I guess. M: Yeah, Ive done everything from patrol to undercover work to detective work, and now Im supervising investigations. W: Mr Smith, I think most people would say that being a police officer is a very stressful job. Would you agree? M: Yes, its definitely a stressful job. But it depends on your assignment. W: So, whats probably the most stressful job you can have? M: Id say patrol is the most stressful assignment. W: Thats interesting! In what way? M: Well, I guess the biggest part of the stress is the fear factor, the fear of the unknown. W: What do you mean, Mr Smith? M: Well, in patrol work, you dont know from moment to moment who you are talking to or what their reaction is going to be to justify your presence. Lets say, for example, a patrol officer stops someone for a traffic violation. It seems as though that would be a very low-stress situation. W: Yes, it is a very low-stress situation. M: But the truth is, there are more police officers injured during a routine stop. W: Really? M: Really! Thats why all police officers are taught from the very beginning to be aware of their surroundings: people back over policemen, people shoot policemen, people jump out at policemen — different kinds of things. So thats probably the most stressful time. W: I see. Lets take a break and then well move on to our next topic. M: All right. Questions 9 to 12 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 9. Whats the relationship between the two speakers? 10. What do we know about Mr Smith from the conversation? 11. What assignment does Mr Smith believe is the most stressful? 12. Why are all police officers taught to be aware of their surroundings from the very beginning?10.

A.He is a good supervisor.

B.He is an experienced police officer.

C.He doesn"t like his present job.

D.He enjoys doing the patrol work.
