听力原文:W: Hey, Bob! So how was the movie?
M: Well, I didn't really enjoy it very much.
W: Why? That film got great reviews. It's really popular.
M: Oh, the movie was fine. I just got irritated by the people sitting in front of me.
W: What happened?
M: Well, first they came in late. It took them a while to get into their seats. All this was happening during an exciting part of the movie. And then they started talking.
W: Oh, I hate when that happens!
M: There were two of them: a man and a woman. The man had seen the movie before. He was telling the woman the entire story.
W: Unbelievable!
M: Well, yon won't believe what happened next! Another person asked them to be quiet. Politely, of course.
W: Right.
M: And they started arguing! Their voices were getting louder and louder. One guy was saying, "You shouldn't talk in the movie," and the other guy was saying, "You can't tell me what to do!"
W: Well, what finally happened?
M: The usher had to be called in because it was getting out of hand. Everyone quieted down eventually, but it was too late. They had ruined the movie for me.

A.He is ashamed of his present condition.
B.He is careless about his appearance.
C.He changes jobs frequently.
D.He shaves every other day.
W: Yeah. Isn't that great? It looks really cool, and they have live music every Saturday night. It'll be the perfect place to hang out after seeing a movie.
M: Are you serious? I think it's ridiculous! They open a new coffee house every five minutes. They are popping up all over the city. There're three coffee houses on Main Street alone.
W: I think that's wonderful--the more coffee houses, the better. I'm sick of bars and night clubs! I want a relaxing place to sit with my friends and chat. It's nice to sit back, listen to the music and slowly sip a really good cup of coffee.
M: Coffee houses are a fad. They appeal to people who have nothing better to do than sit around and drink overpriced coffee. Did you know they charge four dollars for a cup of coffee at that new place across from the theater? That's crazy! They have menus with fifty different "special" blends from all over the world: Java, Ethiopia, Kenya, Brazil... It all tastes exactly the same to me.
W: Coffee houses are not just for trendy people.
M: Yes, they are! Did you just hear what that guy over there ordered? He ordered a double, decaf cappuccino. That's so stupid. If you drink coffee, you should drink it with caffeine.
W: Wow, you are really judgmental today. Are you finished with your coffee? Can we go?
M: No, I paid over three dollars for this cup of coffee. I'm going to drink the whole thing.

W: Oh, I am. It's my neighbors.
M: Oh, so they're acting up again. Huh?
W: Unfortunately, yes, they are.
M: Loud music?
W: Not exactly. You've been to my apartment, right?
M: Yeah, I've been there once. It's a nice place.
W: Well, thank you. So you remember I live on the top floor. Well, last night, around eleven, my neighbors decided to go up on the roof of my apartment building!
M: The roof? Really?
W: Yeah. They had this guy in from out of town and they wanted to show him the view! Can you believe it? I'm soundly asleep, and all of a sudden I hear "stomp, stomp, stomp!" They're walking around on the roof. It sounded like my ceiling was going to fall in.
M: So what did you do?
W: Well, after about ten minutes, I got dressed and went up there to tell them to be quiet. I was so mad. Then of course after that, I couldn't go back to sleep.
M: Oh, don't you hate when that happens? You can't fall asleep, and then before you know it, it's morning and the alarm clock is going off.

听力原文:W: Hello, Steve?
M: Hi, Veronica. What's going on?
W: Oh, my car's having problems again, but I don't have the time or the money to get it fixed.
M: Is it really bad?
W: It's starting to overheat whenever I'm idling or in heavy traffic, and two days ago I had to pull off the expressway and wait until the engine cooled down.
M: Have you taken it into a shop?
W: Well, I went to two different places yesterday; one mechanic said he'd check the coolant level and look for fluid leaks; the other guy said he thought it was the thermostat. I didn't leave the car with either of them, though, because I didn't have a ride back.
M: What are you going to do?
W: I really don't know. I'll have to figure out something; the bus service is terrible around where I five. Anyway, could I ask you for a favor?
M: Of course, what is it?
W: You know, tomorrow's Monday and we're supposed to turn in our homework in English, but I've only gotten halfway through it — I've just been too busy. If I came over, would you help me finish it?
M: Sure, I'll be here all evening. And actually I haven't finished the homework either; I've just been putting it off, so it's good you're coming over — I need someone to motivate me.
W: Thank you so much, Steve. It's so nice of you. See you later.
