听力原文: Nobody likes staying at home on a holiday weekend--especially if the weather is fine. Last fourth of July we decided to spend the day in the country. The only difficulty was that thousands of other people had exactly the same idea. We moved out of town slowly in heavy traffic, but at last we were able to turn off on a quiet side road and, after some time, stopped near an old farmhouse. We had brought plenty of food with us in a big picnic basket and we got the basket out of the car. We spread things out on the ground near a path at the foot of a hill. Everything was ready now, so we sat down. It was very peaceful in the cool grass until we heard bells ringing at the top of the hill. What we saw made us pick up our things and run back to the car as quickly as possible. There was a flock of a hundred or more sheep coming down the path directly towards us!

Bob and Jim once worked in the same factory .One day, Bob lent Jim ten dllars, but then Jim left his work and went to work in another town without giving back the money. Bob did see Jim for a year. And at that time he knew from another friend that Jim was in anther town and staying at a hotel(旅馆). So he went there to see Jim late in the evening. When he got to Ji room, he saw Ji shoes near the door.“Well, he must be in,” he thought, and knocked at the door. There was no answer. He knocked again, and said,“I know you are in, Jim. Your shoes are out here.”
If you are staying at a fancy place you might
find a mint or some little candy on your pillow. These
are free and nice, though I can live without them if
the price of the room is $10 to $20 less per night. S1.______
Some of the channels on the TV will be free, include S2.______
probably a "movie" channel or two. These channels
show movies all the time and one of the things I like S3.______
most about staying in hotels or motels. But there will
also be "play-for-TV" channels which are not free
and the cost of using them will be added up to your S4.______
bill. The phones will call anywhere in the hotel or
motel for free. Anything else will probably be rather
expensive—even local calls in the same town you are S5.______
staying. Recently, I was traveling and I charged S6.______
almost $1.00 just to call the operator of the phone
company who was going to handle my credit card. S7.______
call. My suggestion for saving a few dollar would be S8.______
to place your calls from the public phones you can
probably find in the lobby of where you are staying.
Finally, be care of the refrigerator. Frequently the S9.______
refrigerator is stocked with all sorts of delicious things
to eat and drink, including snacks and beer. None of

During the winter they would be quite happy, but every summer a lot of their relatives used to spend holiday in their house, and it was much cheaper than staying in hotel. Finally one day in June Mr. Richards complained to a clever friend of his who lived in the same place. “One of my wife’s cousins is going to bring her husband and children and spend ten days with us next month again. How have you prevented all your relatives from coming to live with you in summer?” “Oh,” the friend answered, “that is not difficult. I just borrow money from all the rich ones, and lend it to all the poor ones. After that, they seldom come again.” Hearing this Mr. Richards smiled.
