W: The two candidates for the states senate are going to answer questions from reporters. The Daily News is sponsoring the event. Members of the audience will also have a chance to ask questions, so maybe Ill speak, too. M: Oh, so youre interested in politics. Are you helping one of them? W: No, I just want to learn more about the candidates so I can make an informed decision. M: Well, I dont think Ill be voting, so I guess I wont bother with that. W: Why arent going to vote? Thats one of the issues theyll probably discuss tonight. One of the candidates wants tax breaks for large companies. He says that will create more jobs. The other candidate owns a restaurant. Mr Parker, I understand your troupe performs traditional music and dance from many different Native American cultures. Can you give us an idea of some of the dances youll be doing in your performance tonight? M: Certainly. Well be doing one thats a war dance. Originally it was a story-telling device to recount battles. Another is the grass dance performed by the Plains Indians, where they actually flatten tall field grass to prepare it for a ceremony. W: Since your dancers are from many different tribes, how can you be sure the dances are done correctly? M: Everything we do has been approved by the elders of our tribes. Thats partly because we dont necessarily know each others styles or dances. But its also because its hard to get complete agreement — even within the same tribe — about exactly how the dance should be done. W: Anyone who attends one of your performances will notice that your company goes to a lot of trouble to provide detailed explanations of the origin of the dances, the music, the costumes, and so forth. Could you explain to our listeners why you do this? M: Good question. There are always concerns that traditional dances performed in a theatre are nothing more than a spectacle. Our explanations show that in our cultures dance is custom rather than entertainment. We also want to make it clear to our audience that we are not performing any dances used for holy ceremonies. Questions 13 to 15 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 13. What is the main topic of the conversation? 14. What is the purpose of the interview? 15. Why are the dances approved by the elders of the tribes?13.
A.To celebrate the opening of a new theatre.
B.To inform. people about a performance.
C.To broadcast an awards ceremony.
D.To announce a meeting of the tribal elders.
听力原文: When Andrea Peterson landed her first job teaching, she faced the daunting task of creating a music programme with almost no money for equipment or supplies in a climate where standards-based learning was the focus and music just provided a break for students and teachers. For her drive and creativity in overcoming those challenges, shes been named National Teacher of the Year. Principal Waynes Kettler said hes worked with many outstanding teachers in his 22 years as an educator, but Peterson is "just that one step above anybody Ive ever worked with before." Kettler and others at Monte Cristo Elementary School talk about the ways she has introduced the learning from other classrooms into her music programme and her creativity in working around things such as the lack of money for new music. When students were reading S.E. Hintons novel The Outsiders in their regular classroom, Peterson helped them write a 30-minute play with scenes from the book. Then they chose three Broadway tunes that focused on race, equality and social justice, the themes of the book. Peterson composed two other songs herself after classroom discussions about the play and the book. The honor means a lot to residents of Granite Foils. Its inspiring to know that people from small towns even win national honors. As National Teacher of the Year, Peterson will spend more years outside the classroom, as a national and international spokeswoman for education. She said its essential for schools to offer classes such as art or music and physical education because for some kids one of those subjects is the only thing that attracts them to come back to school day after day. Questions 16 to 19 are based on the passage you have just heard. 16. What happened when Peterson began her teaching career? 17. What is the most important reason that Peterson won the award? 18. Which is an example of Petersons way of teaching music? 19. What do we learn about Petersons opinion?16.

B.She motivated students to learn music with her creativity.
C.She has taught music at the elementary school for 22 years.

But diets dont always allow us to learn new eating habits, improve our self-image, or make lifestyle. changes. Developing good eating habits and proper exercise is a permanent issue. And its the main topic of this workshop. In order to keep a healthy diet and minimise the risk of disease, its essential to eat a diet that consists of low-fat foods and to maximise energy with carbohydrates. Beef, nuts, oils, and most dairy products are rich in fat, so you should eat less of those; while pastry, rice, potatoes, and bread contain almost no fat and are a high-energy source of complex carbohydrates. You know that many food manufactures use sugar to make low-fat or fat-free foods taste good, but dont worry too much about that. You dont necessarily "get fat" by eating sugar, since sugar is an indirect fat. When you exercise, carbohydrates are the first calories to burn. If you want to burn off fat, its good to do some sort of aerobic exercise such as biking, swimming, running, or fast walking. But you have to keep doing this exercise for at least twenty minutes because it takes about that long before we start to burn fat. And then the effect of burning fat decreases after 45 minutes of exercise. So if you do some sort of aerobic exercise for three to four days a week for about thirty to forty minutes, youll have an effective schedule for reducing weight. Questions 20 to 22 are based on the passage you have just heard. 20. According to the speaker, which should you eat more? 21. What does the speaker say is burned at the beginning of exercise? 22. According to the speaker, what is the most effective exercise time schedule for reducing weight?20.
A.Carbohydrates.
B.Indirect fat.
C.Body fluid.
D.Fat.

They wrote about the seas. But since they could not dive deep into the waters, they could not lay bare these secrets and so the secrets remained. But today we have more ways to study the sea than did the early Greeks. Scientists are learning about life in the sea, and how it may improve life on land. The study of sea plants and sea animals may help us learn new ways of getting food. Scientists are searching the ocean floor for oil and gas, to keep our world running smoothly. And they are also learning how not to pollute the oceans. For if the sea dies, so does life on earth. The sea may even become our home some day. People are studying ways to build cities on the ocean, and make more room to live in an overcrowded world. Modern study was done, at first, by divers. But it was too dangerous for divers to keep diving and coming to the surface. So now, labouratories on the ocean floor are the homes for divers for months on end. Divers can work outside in the water and return to the labouratory to eat and sleep. Little by little, we are solving the mysteries of the deep. Little by little, the sea is showing us how we can live a better life on land. Questions 23 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard. 23. Who wrote about the seas in early times? 24. What kept early people from understanding the sea? 25. What happens if the sea dies?23.
A.They could not think.
B.They had no pollution.
C.They could not dive deep.
D.They had small boats.
B.She is not as busy as the man.
C.She is unable to help the man.
D.She is lucky not to work with the man.
