听力原文:Man: This is the most boring play I have ever seen. Who told us to come see it?

Woman: I really don't remember, but we don't have to stay to the end if you don't like it. We can leave if you really want to.

Man: All right. Let's leave now before I fall asleep and start snoring.

Woman: All right, all right, calm down, we'll go. Though I really think it's a shame to waste these seventy-five dollar tickets.

Man: What? You paid that much for us to see this play? Next time, why don't we just rent a movie for two-fifty and stay home. I'm sure I'll enjoy that a lot more.

听力原文: This is Jim Johnson with Travel Talk. It's summer and it's vacation time. For some people this means long hours in the car and on the highway. Here are some tips to help you stay safe while on the road. First, the Do's. If you're traveling with more than one driver, try to switch drivers occasionally so that you don't spend too much time behind the wheel. Remember to stop frequently and take a break. Make sure you know the signs of drowsiness: missing road signs, difficulty focusing, and yawning. Now the Don't's. Don't count on distractions such as the radio or an open window to keep you awake. And even though a cup of coffee might give you a lift, remember that the effects of caffeine wear off after a short time. Finally, don't drive between midnight and morning. Tune in again tomorrow when we'll talk about vacation destinations that both adults and children will enjoy.

What is the main topic of the talk?

A.Driving in heavy traffic

B.Purchasing a car

C.Driving safety

D.Traffic conditions

听力原文:Woman: I'm exhausted. I didn't get to bed last night until after eleven.

Man: Really? That's not so late, not unless you got up very early, of course.

Woman: I did get up early. I got up at four. I usually get eight hours of sleep, but last night I got only five. That's not enough for me.

Man: No, that wouldn't be enough for me, either. Why did you get up so early? Were you getting ready for a trip or something?

A.At 7:00.

B.After 7:00.

听力原文: Are you interested in knowing about how to find a place to stay when traveling in the United States?

Well, If you arrive by air, you will see plenty of hotels advertised at airports. If you arrive by train or car, probably the best thing to do is to look into the Yellow Pages under Hotels, Motels or Lodgings. You can start by comparing the services offered in their ads. In any case, you'll have to call them and see if they have the kind of room you're looking for.

Places for stay may be called hotels, motels or motor hotels, inns, lodges or resorts. They are all similar. Motels have plenty of parking space and are usually near a freeway or highway. Inns are usually like hotels. Lodges and resorts, or resort hotels, are in the mountains, on the coast or near lakes. Beds also go by many different names. Starting with the smallest, there are single, twin, double, queen and king size ones. "Long boys" are for exceptionally tall people. At some hotels, queen beds are of smallest size, so a double room has two of them. Some hotels even offer their guests waterbeds. Hide-a-beds are sofas that unfold out to make beds.

People who prefer camping to staying in hotels will have a hard time in American cities, because most of them don't have campgrounds nearby. You can camp in state and national parks, though, which generally have facilities for both tents and trailers.

It is my sincere wish that you will have a good time touring the States, and find a nice place to rest yourself.

(23)

A.To look at the hotels advertised at airports.

B.To look into the Yellow Pages under Hotels, Motels or Lodgings.

C.To compare the rooms offered by the hotels.

D.To call the hotels and book a room in advance.

听力原文: Do you find yourself feeling fired all the time although you get enough sleep? Then maybe this is for you. When you're feeling weak and fired, the worst thing to do is to take a nap. It won't restore your stamina. On the contrary, what happens then is your body loses even more energy than it had before, making you even sleepier.

You may also have these poor habits that worsen the problems. Do you stay in the same small area without getting up to move around? Does your job require that you sit dawn the whole day in front of a computer? Any or all of these reasons might be the cause of your energy loss, keeping your energy level low.

What should you do, then, at those moments when you feel so tired even though you've got enough sleep? A cup of coffee won't help much either, as it is easy to get addicted to the caffeine. The best and most natural thing to do is to take a brisk walk. Doctors recommend the activity because it will increase the heart rate. This increased heart rate will lead to several hours of alertness. Moreover, a regular exercise routine can make your fatigue problems disappear forever.

(26)

A.Your heart rate increases.

B.You become even more tired.

C.You solve the fatigue problem.

D.You'll get hungry.

听力原文:W: Well, John, how was your vacation? Did you visit all the places you wanted to
see?

M: Oh, hardly, but we had a good time just the same. We managed to stop at the old Ghost Town near Virginia City. That's what Jimmy was all excited about.

W: Did you go to Denver like your wife wanted to?

M: Yes, we stayed with her cousin for two days. We had to pass up the Grand Canyon though, because Jimmy got sick from eating too many grapes.

W: How about the stop at Indian Falls? Did you have any time for that?

M: Yes, but we almost didn't. We left Denver on Highway 14 when we should have taken Highway 90. When we realized it, it was almost dark. Still we got there in time to take a few pictures.

W: Where else did you go?

M: Well, we went through Phoenix, Arizona. We all liked that. But we had some trouble with the car there. We had to stay an extra day because of that.

W: I bet that made you mad.

M: It sure did, especially because I had the guy at the garage give the car a checkup just before we left home, and he said the car was in excellent condition. Still I can't complain. I was able to get in some extra fishing because of the delay. I went out with the man who was staying in the hotel we were at.

W: Generally, you did quite a lot.

M: Yes, we certainly did. But after we got home, it took us two days to rest up. All that driving around was murder.

(20)

A.They had to stay in Denver for two days.

B.They missed seeing the Grand Canyon.

C.They started out on the wrong highway.

D.They almost didn't see Indian Falls.
