M: Yeah, I work 40 hours a week, and I'm taking three classes this semester. In the morning usually. Some days all I do is eat, study, work and sleep.

W: OK, see you then.

听力原文:W: Hi, Mike. I wonder if you have time to go with me to the cinema this Sunday.

M: Oh, I planned to finish my term paper that day, but Yamada invited me to a tea ceremony at his home.

W: Really? You’re lucky! The tea ceremony is a special form. of entertainment for distinguished guests.

M: Yes, the tradition of tea ceremony has existed for about six hundred years. But, to be frank, I know little about those special and strict rules of the ceremony.

W: It’s not as hard as you imagine. I happened to have been invited to one tea ceremony once. I think I can give you some suggestions.

M: Oh, that’s good.

W: Remember, no matter what kind of tea ceremony you attend, they have one thing in common, that is, guests are invited to enjoy a moment of peace and calm.

M: Do you mean that the atmosphere is more important than the cakes and the tea itself?

W: Yes. And don’t forget to wash your hands in a rock water basin before entering the tea-room.

M: It sounds interesting. Is there a special room for a tea ceremony?

W: Of course. The room is very simple but very beautiful. The host and the guests will all sit on a kind of bamboo mats named ‘tatami’.

M: I know. I’m practicing to sit on my knees on the floor these days. My knees ached a lot.

W: But I’m sure the tea ceremony will release your pain and make you feel happy and peaceful.

(23)

听力原文:W: Hello.

M: Hi, Sarah, this is Mike.

W: Great to hear from you Mike! How have you been doing these days?

M: To tell you the truth, I'm very worried about our final examinations next month. For one thing, I'm suffering from insomnia. I can't fall asleep, even after I've swallowed some sleeping pills.

W: I sympathize! I went through the same thing last year.

M: That's exactly why I'm calling you. Do you have any suggestions for coping with anxiety? You know how I hate exams!

W: Well, take a walk or have a shower before you go to sleep.

M: I have tried. All seems to be of no use.

W: OK. I know, last year the university offered a stress-management course at about this time. Have you been in contact with the student health services?

M: No, I have always been pressed for time!

W: Funny, isn't it? Just when students need help most, we can't afford the time to get it!

M: Well, perhaps I should find out more about this stress-management course. Things have got to get better!

W: I suggest you call the health services tomorrow. They open at nine a. m.

M: Thanks, Sarah. I'll let you know how it goes.

W: Best of luck! And have a good night's sleep!

M: That's easier said than done! Thank you just the same.

听力原文:W: Hi, Mike.

M: Hi. I'm surprised to see you on the city bus. Why not drive your car?

W: (23)I've been thinking about the environment lately. If we all use public transportation when we could, the air will be much cleaner.

M: Right. But the bus isn't exactly pollution free.

W: True. But they'll be running a lot cleaner soon, We were just talking about that in my environmental engineering class.

M: What's the city going to do? Install pollution filters of some sort on their buses?

W: They could, but those filters make the engines work harder and really cut down on fuel efficiency. Instead they found a way to make their engines more efficient.

M: How?

W: Well, (24)there is a material called the coniine oxide. It's a really good insulator. And a thick coat of it gets sprayed on the certain part of the engine.

M: An insulator?

W: Yes. (25)It reflects back the heat of burning fuel. So the fuel will burn much hotter and burn up more completely.

M: So a lot less unburned fuel comes out to pollute the air, right?

W: Yeah, and the bus will need less fuel. So with the savings on fuel cost, they say this will all pay for itself in just six months.

M: Sounds like people should all go out and get this stuff to spray their car engines.

W: Well, not really that easy. To melt the materials before you can spray a coat of it on the engine parts, you first have to heat it over 10,000 degrees. It's not something we are able to do ourselves.

(20)

A.Something is wrong with her car.

B.The cost of the fuel is high.

C.It's cheap to take bus.

D.She thinks public transportation is environmental friendly.
