W: Hello, welcome to "Advice" radio program, what's your name?
M: Jim.
W: What's your problem?
M: Er...well I'm er...beginning to lose my hair. Er, 1 went to the doctor, but he just said there was nothing I could do about it. He said it was probably hereditary. My father was bald by the time he was thirty.
W: And how old are you?
M: Me? I'm twenty-eight.
W: And are you losing a lot of hair then?
M: Well, it comes out a lot when I comb my hair and you can see a thin part on the top of my head.
W: Does that really worry you, Jim?
M: Well, I don't like it. It's old, you know, looks old. I don't want to look like a middle-aged man at twenty-eight. And I wonder if there is some special shampoo I should use, and if you could tell me one that I should buy, something like that, you know, to stop it getting worse.
W: Well, you know, Jim, to be honest with you there's not really a lot you can do about it, actually, I'm afraid. I mean, baldness is one of those things that, in my experience, you just have to try to accept. Some men find it more difficult to accept baldness than others. There is one piece of advice, though, Jim, and that's don't try to comb your hair over the bald or thin patch. Whatever you do, don't comb it over because that usually looks ridiculous. And the other thing that usually looks ridiculous is a man with a wig, that is, the false hairpiece. Don't let anyone persuade you to buy one of those false hairpiece things, because they usually look much worse than a bald man. I actually think bald men can look very attractive. My husband is bald and I think it really suits him.

B.The shampoo he used caused it.
C.He combs his hair too much.
D.He is old enough to lose hair.
听力原文:W: Rex, can you give me a hand with one of those bags?
M: Sure, Lucy.
W: Could you take this one please? I didn't realize how heavy these bags would be.
M: Why did you borrow so many books from the library when you have to walk back to your room from there?
W: Well, I didn't intend to. Indeed, most of the books aren't mine. On my way back I met two classmates who asked me to bring their stuff as they were going to a party. And I'm also going there later, you know, after 1 drop all these bags.
M: What's the occasion?
W: Our professor, Prof Lee, has been on vacation for a month and we thought we'd surprise him. We're getting together for a welcome party.
M: Oh, that's really thoughtful of you.
W: We figure it's the least we can do for him. He's really helped me a lot with my last term paper.
M: Really? That's very kind of him.
W: Well, he understood how difficult it was to submit the paper by the deadline when I was in the hospital, so he granted me a month's extension. He's been such a big help to me. I thought that this might be a small way to thank him.

When I was young, my mother brought me up to be very careful to avoid hurting myself, and perhaps as a result, I was very afraid of pain. I had very bad teeth, so I had to go to the dentist twice a year and had a lot of fillings (补牙)done. In those days nothing much could be done about the pain, and I used to fear those appointments for weeks ahead.
But then, during my time in the army, I became an officer, and in the desert I got what was called a desert sore (沙漠疮)on one of my hands. I went to the army doctor. Doctors did not yet know how to cure desert sores in those days, so no sooner had the doctor looked at mine than he took out a pair of sharp scissors and put them in methylated spirit (甲基化酒精)to clean them.
As he came towards me with those sharp scissors, several thoughts went through my head at great speed: "Even though I'm afraid of pain, I'm an officer now, so I know what to do.If I want to lead people into battle, I must be brave myself, so let's get it over!" The doctor started to cut the desert sore off my hand, and to my astonishment it was nothing like as painful as I had expected, although one's hands are one of the most sensitive parts of one's body.
After that victory over myself, I decided that the amount of pain one could bear depended largely on one's attitude of mind, and I have proved it to myself many times since then. I was very pleased when, many years later, I read medical reports confirming my idea.

听力原文:M: Did you see that TV special on Norman Rockwell last night?
W: Yes, I did. It was really good, wasn't it?
M: It sure was. I thought it was really interesting how he developed the paintings in states starting with photographs.
W: Yes, I did, too. It never occurred to me that he would have actually employed models. I just assumed that he invented all those wonderful characters.
M: I know. But it does make sense to use photographs of real people, to solve as many of the composition problems as possible before starting to paint.
W: True. Anyway, you know what I like most about his work?
M: What?
W: Well, when you look at one of the magazine covers, which magazine was it?
M: The Saturday Evening Post.
W: Yes, you can just tell what the people are thinking and feeling. The picture really tells a story.
M: You're right. I like that, too. And to think that he created several hundred of those.
W: Amazing. Of course, that was over a period of almost sixty years, but still...
M: I'd like to see them when that exhibit comes to Miami.
W: What exhibit?
M: The one they mentioned after the special.
W: Oh. I must have turned it off before the announcement. I'd like to see it, too. let's go

But put to one side questions of justice and inequality. Force down the thought that the chief executive's enormous share options may demoralize the deputy chief executive and make the company harder to manage. Ignore the bleating bondholder, who sees his risk rise as companies borrow to buy back shares to give to executives. The fundamental question is whether share-option schemes are doing what they were designed to do: aligning the interests of managers with those of owners, motivating bosses to do their level best by shareholders.
听力原文:W: What should I get Uncle Teddy?
M: You could get him a tie.
W: Are you kidding? (19)That's the stupidest Christmas gift one can buy. I don't want to get a tie. (20)Everybody gets men ties for Christmas. It's too boring. I want a more unique gift.
M: Well, you can buy him a pet frog then.
W: That's a cool idea. At least it would be a surprise. But I'm afraid he wouldn't take care of it.
M: How much do you want to spend?
W: Well, he was very good to me. He helped me edit my essay for the scholarship contest. So I want to spend at least 75 dollars.
M: Alright, I have an idea. You know he carries that conservative-looking briefcase every day. (21)I think he would appreciate having a very fine leather bag. You know, not so hard and square like a briefcase.
W: (21)I think that's a great idea. Men look great with that kind of bag. Where can we buy one?
M: I don't think this mall has a leather goods store. So we have to go to State Street.
W: Alright. We can go later then.
M: We can buy something for Mom and Dad here, and then go buy Uncle Teddy's gift on State Street.
W: Good plan. What should we get for Mom though?
M: She said she wants one of those automatic foot massagers. I think they sell them at Sears.
W: Alright. And what about Dad?
