An internal company communication; this means a piece of communication with a colleague
or colleagues within the company on a business-related matter, and the delivery medium may be a note, message, memo or e-mail. And one of the following:
A piece of business correspondence; this means correspondence with somebody outside the company (eg. A customer or supplier) on a business-related matter, and the delivery medium may be letter, fax or e-mail.
A report; The report will contain an introduction, main body of findings and conclusion.
A proposal; this has a similar format to a report, but unlike the report, the focus of the proposal is on the future, with the main focus being on recommendations for discussion; it is possible that the delivery medium may be a memo or an e-mail.

1. What is Cambridge BEC?
The Cambridge Business English Certificate(BEC) is a new Business English examination similar to other well-known Cambridge certificates such as FCE and CAE. There are three certificates at three different levels(BEC1-3). Each examination tests Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills.
2. How much business knowledge do I need for the exam?
The exam tests knowledge of general business English. Specialized knowledge of particular jobs and industries is not required. The examination is also suitable for pre-experience people.
3. When can I take the Cambridge BEC exams?
All three Cambridge BEC exams are available six times a year at approximately 8 week intervals starting in February.
4. Where can I take the Cambridge BEC exams?
At any examination center approved by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate(UCLES).
5. How is my English tested?
The examination has three parts. The first part is the Reading and Writing Test which lasts 70 minutes. Paper Two is a Listening Test which lasts 40 minutes. Finally there is a 10-minute interview with another candidate and two examiners which test your spoken English.
6. Can I do Cambridge BEC2 without doing BEC1 first?
Yes. The examinations do not need to be done in any particular order.
7. What mark do I need to pass the examination?
Exact pass marks vary from exam to exam and year to year. However, any candidate with a mark over 70% will pass.
