听力原文:W: Hey, Geff. Have you been to the new library yet? M: Oh, hi, Jen. Yes, I went
last week to check it out. I really like it. W: Yes, I like it too. I like the study areas. There seems to be a lot of room just to spread out and focus on the books. Its much better than the old library where it seemed like we were all jammed into one area. Sometimes it was even hard to find a spot to study because it was so crowded, especially during exams. 1 even like the chairs at the new place. Theyre super comfy. M: Youre right. The only bad thing about it is that its pretty far away. It takes me about twenty minutes to get there by bus. So, 1 can see myself not going all the way downtown if Im in a pinch for time. Id probably just stay in residence and study there. W: I was thinking that too. Its too bad it takes so long to get there. I dont like being dependent on the buses. Have you tried riding your bike there? It might take a little longer but at least youre getting a bit of exercise. M: Thats a good idea, Jen. Maybe Ill try riding this week. I just have to make sure Im good and rested. Sometimes, when Im overtired Im not too coordinated. Knowing me, Id have a load of books in my backpack and get distracted by something and crash my bike. W: Hmm. Well, youve just got to keep an eye out for those potholes. Oh, wow. Look at the time! Ive got to get to my next class. Ill see you around, Geff. M: Good talking to you, Jen. 根据下列文字,回答下列各题: My family and I recently returned from a trip to Alaska, a pla
ce that combines supernatural beauty with a breathtaking amount of bear risks. I ll start with some facts at a glance : WHERE ALASKA IS :Way the hell far from you. Beyond Mars. HOW YOU GET THERE:You sit in a variety of airplanes for most of your adult life.WHAT THEY HAVE THERE THAT WILL TRY TO KILL YOU:Bears. I am quite serious about this. Although Alaska is now an official state in the United States withmodem conveniences such as rental cars and frozen yogurt, it also allows a large number of admit-ted bears to stride freely, and nobody seems to be the least bit alarmed about this. In fact, the Alas-kans seem to be proud of it. You walk into a hotel or department store, and the first thing you seeis a glass case containing a stuffed bear the size of a real one. Our hotel had two of these. It waswhat we travel writers call "a two-bear hotel". Both bears were standing on their hind legs and striking a pose that said: "Welcome to Alaska! Im going to tear your arms off!" This struck me as an odd concept, greeting visitors with a showcase containing a major localhazard. Its as if an anti-drug organization went around setting up glass display cases containingstuffed drug smugglers(走私者), with little plaques (胸章)stating how much they weighed andwhere they were taken. Anyway, we decided the best way to deal with our fear of bears was to become well informedabout them, so we bought a book, Alaska Bear Tales. Here are some of the chapter titles, which Iam not making up: "They ll Attack Without Warning""They ll Really Attack You" "They Will Kill" "Come Quick! Im Being Eaten by a Bear!""They Can Be Funny" Ha-ha ! 1 bet they can. I bet Mr. and Mrs. Bear will fight playfully over the remaining portionof a former tourist plumped up by airline food. But just the same, I m glad that the only actualbears that we saw were in the zoo. What is the tone of the story?

A.Serious.

B.Complex.

C.Comic.

D.Disapproving,

根据材料回答下列各题: Bill Gates: Unleashing Your Creativity Ive always been an optimist
s and I suppose that is rooted in my belief that the power of creativity and intelligence can make the world a better place. For as long as I can remember, Ive loved learning new things and solving problems. So when I satdown at a computer for the first time in seventh grade, I was hooke D. It was a chunky old teletype ma-chine and it could barely do anything compared to the computers we have today. But it changed my life. When my friend Paul Allen and I started Microsoft 30 years ago, we had a vision of“a computeron every desk and in every home,” which probably sounded a little too optimistic at a time when mostcomputers were the size of refrigerators. But we believed that personal computers would change their world. And they have. And after 30 years, Im still as inspired by computers as I was back in seventh grade. I believe that computers are the most incredible tool we can use to feed our curiosity and inven-tiveness-to help us solve problems that even the smartest people couldnt solve on their own. Computers have transformed how we learn, giving kids everywhere a window into all of theworlds knowledge. Theyre helping us build communities around the things we care about and to stayclose to the people who are important to us, no matter where they are. Like my friend Warren Buffett, I feel particularly lucky to do something every day that I love todo. He calls it "tap-dancing to work". My job at Microsoft is as challenging as ever, but what makesme "tap-dancing to work" is when we show people something new, like a computer that can recognizeyour handwriting or your speech, or one that can store a lifetimes worth of photos, and they say, "Ididnt know you could do that with a PC!" But for. all the cool things that a person can do with a PC, there are lots of other ways we can putour creativity and intelligence to work to improve our worl D. There are still far too many people in theworld whose most basic needs go unmet. Every year, for example, millions of people die from diseasesthat are easy to prevent or treat in the developed world. I believe that my own good fortune brings with it a responsibility to give back to the world. My wife, Melinda, and I have committed to improving health and education in a way that can help as manypeople as possible. As a father, I believe that the death of a child in Africa is no less poignant or tragic than the deathpf a child anywhere else, and that it doesnt take much to make an immense difference in thesechildrens lives. Im still very much an optimist, and I believe that progress on even the worlds toughest problemsis possible--and its happening every day. Were seeing new drugs for deadly diseases, new diagnostictools, and new attention paid to the health problems in the developing world. Im excited by the possibilities I see for medicine, for education and, of course, for technology. And I believe that through our natural inventiveness, creativity and willingness to solve tough prob-lems, were going to make some amazing in all these area in my life. 听力原文:M: Honey, the basketball game is about to start. And would you bring some chips,
ice cream, and a piece of pizza from the refrigerator? W: No problem. Anything else? M: No, thats enough for now. Hey, our company is organizing a basketball team, and Im thinking about joining. What do you think? W: Humph! M: "Humph!" What do you mean by "Humph"? I was the starplayer in the university. With my help, our team once won the state championship five times in a row. W: Yeah, but that was some fifteen years ago. Look, I just dont want you to have a heart attack, running up and down the court. M: So, what are you suggesting? Should I just give up the idea? Im not that out of shape. W: You are not that out of shape? It has been at least 5 years since you played last. You ought to have a physical examination before you begin. M: Well, OK, Ill follow your advice. But dont fuss too much about my health. At least I had kept training for more than 15 years before graduating. W: Once you stopped exercises for some time, you should be careful when you plan to resume. Besides, you need to watch your diet and eat less fatty foods, like ice cream. You should try eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. Dont you think you are not as fit as before? M: Oh, yeah, youre probably right. From today on, all ice cream in our refrigerator belongs to you. I will never touch it. W: Good! And you should take up a little weight training to strengthen your muscles. M: Weight training? Come on! Is there anything else? W: Oh, you need to go to bed early instead of watching TV till midnight. M: Hey, youre starting to sound like my mother. W: No, I just love you, and I want you to be healthy and enjoy life. Questions 13 to 15 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 13. A.He should stay at home watching TV.

B.He shouldn"t join the basketball team unless he had a physical exam.

根据下面资料,回答下列各题 There is a certain inevitability that ebook sales have now over
taken paperback sales on Amazons US site. Amazons Kindle 2 is so light and so cheap that its easy to see why people have rushed to buy it. Though Im still not keen on the design of the Kindle, it is a vast improvement on its predecessor and certainly tolerable. Beyond the device itself, Amazon has done a great job of rolling out Kindle apps, ensuring that people like me-who have an iPad but not a Kindle-can still join in the fun. Once youre into the Kindle ecosystem, Amazon locks you in tightly-just as Apple does with its iTunes/ iPod ecosystem. Its so easy to buy from Amazons store and the books are so cheap that its not worth the effort of going elsewhere. While I remain opposed to Amazons DRM (数字版权管理)-indeed, Im opposed to DRM on any ebooks-I have to admit that the implementation is so smooth that most Kindle users wont care at all that their ebooks cant be moved to other devices. The ebook trend is nowhere near peaking. Over the next five years we can expect to see more and more readers move away from printed books and pick up ebooks instead. But I dont think that will mean the death of the printed book. There are some who prefer printed books. They like having shelves filled with books theyve read and books they plan to read; they like the feel of the book in their hands and the different weights and typefaces and layouts of different titles. In other words, they like the physical form. of the book almost as much as the words it contains. I can sympathise with those people. As I wrote earlier this week, my ideal situation would be for publishers to bundle ebooks with printed ones-in much the same way that film studios btmdie DVDs with digital copies of films. Theres no reason to think that lovers of printed books will change their minds. There will undoubtedly be fewer of them as time goes by because more people will grow up with ebooks and spend little time with printed ones. However, just as there are people who love vinyl records(黑胶唱片), even if they were born well into the CD era, there will still be a dedicated minority who love physical books. Since there are fewer of these people, that will mean fewer bookshops and higher prices for printed books but I dont think the picture is entirely bleak. There is scope for smaller print runs of lavishly designed printed books and bookshops aimed at book lovers, rather than the Stieg Larsson-reading masses. With mainstream readers out of the printed book market, book lovers might even find they get a better experience. What can be inferred from Paragraph One?

A.Most people buy Kindle 2 mainly because of its low price.

B.The author of the passage is a loyal customer of Apple products.

C.Amazons Kindle 2 surpassed Kindle 1 in designing.

D.The sales of ebook outnumbered those of paperback in the U. S.

听力原文:W: What are you reading now? M: Im looking at this beauty in the picture. Look!
Shes really pretty, isnt she? Her skin looks so smooth! W: Well, its just that she puts lots of make-up on her face. Actually, natural beauty comes from within. And you know nowadays the camera work is so artificial. M: Ah, yeah, I can smell jealousy in the air! W: Oh, no. She has nothing that deserves my jealousy. I dont have to put things on my face and I still look pretty. Dont you think so? M: Yeah, right! But what did you put on your face last night, those little greenish things? W: Theyre cucumbers. M: What? I know that cucumber is a kind of vegetable rich in vitamin A. How is it used on the skincare? W: Well, it is a fashion nowadays that women tend to use the natural vegetables on the skincare. And they are much better than any chemical products. M: Really? Then what does the cucumber do for you? W: Theyre natural skin smoothers, natural healers of the skin. Havent you heard that...er... cucumber goes far beyond mere tightening the skin? In fact, cucumbers have been used as a dry skin remedy for centuries, and they are also effective in the treatment of other skin problems. M: I have got a scar on my cheek. Can the cucumber do something about it? W: Try some herbal plants, which have the function of remedying the scarred skin. M: It sounds reasonable. Actually there is much knowledge needed for the skincare. Questions 9 to 12 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 9. What does the woman feel about the beauty in the picture? 10. What do women tend to do nowadays to care for their skins? 11. What is the skincare function of cucumber according to the woman? 12. What does the woman suggest the man do?10.

听力原文:M: Good morning, Mrs. Green. You want to see me? W: Yes, Jim. Lets review what y
ouve done so far. You were hired as a mail clerk about five years ago. Youve learned a lot since then, havent you? M: Sure. I learned more about the company because I went around to different offices. Then I was promoted to mail distribution clerk. Thats two grades higher than the mail clerk. So I skipped a grade. I went from Grade 1 to Grade 3. W: Did you like that job? M: Yeah, my pay went up, and every year I moved up a step. Every time I moved up a step, I got a pay raise. It was a Grade 3, Step F. But I didnt go outside. I was usually in the mail room. I was in charge of the other messenger clerks. W: You were a boss. M: Right. After three years, the manager said he wanted to help me move up. They gave me a little test — arithmetic, alphabetising, and some typing. W: You did well on the test. M: Yes. I did well because I studied at an adult school, and I practiced at home before the test. So I got this job as senior clerk. Im a Grade 5 now. W: Well, Jim, here is another chance to move up the ladder. The Mail Department is getting some new computers. We will give everybody two days of training. The people who learn quickly can go to school for more training. M: You mean going to school on company time? Go to school instead of coming to work? W: Yes, because it will help you in your work later. You can be promoted to production programming after youve learned to use a computer. The job starts at Grade 7. M: Well, Id like to think about it for a few days. Maybe I should stay where I am now. Questions 9 to 12 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 9. What is mainly discussed in the conversation? 10. How many years did it take the man to move up to Grade 5? 11. Who can get the chance to go to school for more training? 12. What can be inferred from the conversation?10.
