听力原文: People say that to get up early in three mornings is equal to one day of time. Early rising is beneficial in more than one way. First, it helps to keep us fit. We all need fresh air. But air is never so fresh as early in the morning. Besides, it improves our health to take our morning exercises.
Secondly, early rising helps us in our studies. In the morning our mind is clear, and we learn more quickly. We find it easier to memorize what we learn. The study is very efficient then.
Thirdly, early rising enables us to plan our work for the day. We cannot work well without a proper plan. Just as the plan for the year should be made in foe spring, so the plan for the day should be made in the morning.
Fourthly, early rising gives us enough time to get ready for our work, such as to brush our teeth, take a shower, get dressed, and eat our breakfast properly.
Finally, there is less traffic on the way. Buses and cars are not crowded, and there are less traffic jams. The fore, it takes less time to get to our schools and work places.
Late risers may find it very difficult to cultivate the habit of early rising. Since they already know the benefits of early rising, they ought to make up their minds and make a special effort to do so.

Sending a child to school in England is a step which many parents do not find easy to take. In theory, at least, the problem is that there are very many choices to make. Let us try to list some of the alternatives between which parents are forced to decide. To begin with, they may ask themselves whether they would like their child to go to a single-sex school or a co-educational school. They may also consider whether he should go to a school which is connected to a particular church or religious group, or whether the school should have no such connections. Another decision is Whether the school should be one of the vast majority financed by the State or one of the very small but influential minority of private schools, though this choice is, of course, only available to the small number of those who can pay. Also connected with the question of money is whether the child should go to a boarding school or live at home. Then there is the question of what the child should do at school. Should it be a school whose curriculum lays emphasis, for instance, on necessary skills, such as reading, writing and mathematics, or one which pays more attention to developing the child’s personality, morally, emotionally and socially. Finally, with dissatisfaction with conventional education as great as it is in some circles in England and certainly in the USA, the question might even arise in the parents’ minds as to whether the child should be compelled to go to school at all. Although in practice, some parents may not think twice about any of these choices and send their child to the only school available in the immediate neighbourhood, any parent who is interested enough can insist that as many choices as possible be made open to him, and the system is theoretically supposed to provide them.
78. Parents find choosing a school hard because___.
A. there is a limited number of choices
B. some schools are very expensive
C. some schools are government schools
D. they are faced with a variety of offers
&8226;Read the article about how to handle trick questions in a job interview.
&8226;For each question 31--40, write one word in CAPITAL LETTERS on your Answer Sheet.
How do You Handle Trick Questions?
Many trained interviewers have a trick question they always ASK, one for which there is no correct answer but that lets you potentially damage yourself whichever way you respond.
The chairperson (31) an English department may ask a potential teacher, "How heavily do you count off for spelling errors when you grade an essay?" If the candidate regards spelling errors very minimally, he or she may (32) accused of having very low academic standards. On the (33) hand, if the candidate penalizes heavily for these errors, he or she may be accused of being out of touch (34) current approaches to teaching writing and with evaluation techniques.
If the interviewer asks you (35) you like to work overtime and you enthusiastically say "yes", he or she may then smugly tell you that company policy prohibits employees (36) working overtime. If you hedge or say "no", the interviewer may say that the willingness to be flexible with overtime hours is a requirement of all employees. Try to spot the trick question so (37) you will not be trapped by it. Remember that one of your tasks at the interview is to gain some control of the flow of talk. Ask a question yourself: "I am certainly willing to do what overtime assignments are necessary (38) my position. How much overtime do most of your employees work each month?"
If the interviewer asks, "What was it (39) your last job that you most disliked," see this as a trick question and sidestep it: "I'm not certain I really disliked anything about my last job. I just feel that I am now ready (40) even more challenges and responsibilities. "

?Read the article below about price system, and the questions on the opposite page.
?For each question 13--18, mark one letter (A, B, C, or D) on your Answer Sheet for the answer you choose.
PRICE SYSTEM
Prices determine how resources are to be used. They are also the means by which products and services that are in limited supply are rationed among buyers. The price system of the United States is a very complex network composed of the prices of all the products bought and sold in the economy as well as those of a myriad of services, including labor, professional transportation, and public utility services. The interrelationships of all these prices make up the "system" of prices. The price of any particular product or service is linked to a broad, complicated system of prices in which everything seems to supply to the transaction, guarantees on the product or service, delivery terms, return privileges, and other factors. In other words, both buyer and seller depend more or less upon everything else. If one were to ask randomly selected individuals to define "price", many would reply that price is an amount of money paid by the buyer to the seller of a product of service or, in other words, that price is the money value of a product of service as agreed upon in a market transaction.
This definition is, of course, valid as far as it goes. For a complete understanding of a price in any particular transaction, much more than the amount of money involved must be known. Both the buyer and the seller should be familiar with not only the money amount, but with the amount and quality of the product or service to be exchanged, the time and place at which the exchange will take place and payment will be made, the form. of money to be used, the credit terms and discounts that should be fully aware of all the factors that comprise the total "package" being exchanged for the asked--for amount of money in order that they may evaluate a given price.

B.The Complexities of the Price System.

New Technique Promises Earlier Cancer Detection
A new technique could revolutionize the early detection of cancer, giving sufferers a greater chance of beating the disease, American scientists said. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have devised a novel method of(51)changes in the nucleus of cells in the earliest stages of the disease. "More than 85 percent of all cancers originate in the epithelium (上皮) that lines the internal surfaces of organs(52)the body. Although these are treatable(53)they are diagnosed in one of the preventable stages, early body damages are almost(54)to detect," said scientist Feld. "We present a new optical-probe (光学探子) technique based on light-scattering spectroscopy (分光镜检查) that is able(55)detect pre-cancerous and early cancerous cells in cell-rich epithelia," he added in a statement.
The new technique relies on the fact(56)cell nuclei change in the early stages of cancer and the differences scatter light in a characteristic way. Until now the changes were only detectable(57)a biopsy (活检) was taken, the scientists said. The new technique,(58)in the science journal Nature, can be used in conjunction with a routine cancer screening and surveillance technique which uses an endoscope (内窥镜)--a flexible optical probe(59)with cameras which is inserted into a cavity in the body--to check(60)cancers.
The scientists said they(61)their new technique in four different organs during routine endoscopic cancer screening. The tip of the optical probe was brought into contact with the tissue to be tested and the scattering of light was recorded without the need for any tissue to be(62), the scientists said. "Our results show that light-scattering spectroscopy has the potential to detect pre-cancerous body damages and pre-invasive cancers throughout the body. This technique should(63)improve the efficiency of cancer screening and surveillance," the scientists said. Cancer is one of the biggest(64)in industrialized countries.(65)to figures from the World Health Organization, 10 million people were diagnosed with the disease worldwide in 1997 and six million died.

&8226;Read the article below about Hikikomori.
&8226;Choose the best sentence to fill in each of the gaps.
&8226;For each gap 8-12,mark one letter(A-G)on your Answer Sheet.
&8226;Do not use any letter more than once.
&8226;There is an example at the beginning(0).
Hikikomori has become a major issue in Japan. Loosely translated as "social withdrawal," Hikikomori refers to the state of anomie into which an increasing number of young Japanese seem to fall these days. Socially withdrawn kids typically lock themselves in their bedrooms and refuse to have any contact with the outside world.
They live in reverse: they sleep all day, wake up in the evening and stay up all night watching television or playing video games.
(8) Their funk can last for months, even years in extreme cases. No official statistics are available, but it is estimated that more than one million young Japanese suffer from the affliction. One such young man was the protagonist of my latest novel, Symbiosis Worm.
Hikikomori is a consequence of the phenomenal growth of the Japanese economy during the latter half of the 20th century and the tremendous technological progress the country made during that time. Japanese youth could not afford to be socially withdrawn if their parents were not affluent enough to provide them a home, meals and extras that have come to be thought of as basics--audio and video equipment, software, mobile phones, computers. (9)
Affluent Japanese do not know what kind of lifestyle. to take up now. (10) "Socially withdrawn" people find it extremely painful to communicate with the outside world, and thus they turn to the tools that bring virtual reality into their closed rooms. (11) The country has to accept that World War II ended long ago--and so did the glory days of national restoration and economic growth. We don't need the state to come up with an alternative national goal. Instead Japan should develop into a society in which each member is able to set his or her own aims. That's not easy, but not impossible. If the culture cannot adjust and drowns in a tsunami of technology. (12)
A Some own computers or mobile phones, but most have few or no friends.
B Socially withdrawn kids typically lock themselves in their bedrooms and refuse to have any contact with the outside world.
C Japan, on the other hand, must face reality itself.
D Great changes in a country's social structure have always caused stresses.
E That uncertainty has pulled people further apart and caused a whole raft of social problems. Hikikomori is naturally one of them.
F Japan will end up sinking even deeper into a labyrinth of confusion.
G And there are plenty of newer technological devices for these youths to pursue.
