听力原文:M: Hello, Prof. Dianna, you wanted to see me?

W: Oh, yes, Frank. Thanks for coming. It's about your work as a teaching assistant. I've just read your evaluations, the ones the students filled out toward the end of the semester.

M: Yes... ? Well, how were they?

W: Would you like to take a look? Out of a possible score of five, you got a four-point-eight. That's very high, Frank.

M: Well, what a pleasant surprise.

W: When we see such a high score, we generally try to keep the Teaching Assistant on a little longer and perhaps even ask them to cover more classes. What do you say, Frank? Would you like this?

M: I sure would, but I don't know if I can. Next fall will be my last semester of coursework for my master's and I'll be very busy doing re search on my thesis. Could I have a few days to think about it?

W: Certainly, I wouldn't want you to fall behind in your course-work, but I do think you should consider getting more experience in the classroom. You seem to have a real gift.

M: Thanks for your praise, Professor.

W: Let me know by the beginning of next week, will you?

M: Sure thing. I'll drop by again on Monday or Tuesday.

听力原文:M: There are just one or two more things, Catherine.

W: Do call me Cathy.

M: OK, Cathy. Are you really interested in being a vet?

W: Not really. Anyway, I'm not bright enough. I'm reasonably intelligent, but I'm not brilliant, I’m afraid my mother is a bit over optimistic.

M: Yes, I guessed that. She's a bit overpowering, isn't she, your mum?

W: A bit. But she's very kind.

M: I'm sure she is. So, you're interested in ballet and music, are you?

W: Not really. My mother sent me to lessons when it was six, so I'm quite good, I suppose. But I don't think I want to do that for the rest of my life, especially music. It's so lonely.

M: What do you enjoy doing?

W: Well, I like playing tennis, and swimming. Oh, I went to France with the school choir last year. I rosily enjoyed that. And I like talking to people. But I suppose you mean real interests things that weald help me to get a jab?

M: No. I'm more interested in what you really want to do. You like talking to people, do you?

W: Oh yes, I really enjoy meeting new people.

M: Do you think you would enjoy teaching?

W: No, no, I don't really. I was never very interested in school work, and I'd like to do something different. Anyway, there's a teacher training college very near us. It would be just like going to school again.

听力原文:M: You're back. And right on schedule too. How was your holiday?

W: It was all right, I suppose.

M: You don't sound as though you enjoyed it very much. Where did you go?

W. I went home. I stayed with my family.

M: Where is your home?

W: It's in West Virginia. It's a quite small village in West Virginia. You know, going home really made me think how different my life would have been if I'd stayed there.

M: Why? What would you have done?

W: Well, first of all, I probably would have married the boy I went steady with while I was in high school.

M: Would it have been a mistake if you had married him?

W: It would have been different, that's all. If I had married him, I probably would have stayed there in West Virginia for the rest of my life.

M: Would that have been so bad?

W: I would never have come to the city. I never would have tried to get a job.

M: But you've come to the city and had several jobs.

W: That's true. The thing is that after all these years of working, I am still a secretary or assistant to someone. No transfer. No promotion. It's so annoying and frustrating. I didn't come all the way up to the city for that, did I?

M: Do you think you'll ever go back to West Virginia to live?

W: Someday, maybe, but not until I've had more experience. I'd like to know that I could have real career if I wanted to.

M: Well, the first step in a successful career is to get some work done. Here are some letters that have to be answered right away.

W: All right, I'll take care of them. But you just wait. Someday I might be your boss!

B.She would have made a great mistake in her life career.
