My son Joey was born with club feet, (29) The doctors assured us that with treatment he would be able to walk normally, but would never run very well. The first three years of his life were spent in surgery, casts and braces. By the age of six, Joey could go to school with other neighbor children. (30) By the time he was eight, you wouldn't know he had a problem when you saw him walk.
One year later, Joey would jump right in and nun as most children do during play. We never told him that he probably wouldn't be able to run as well as the other children. So he didn't know.
In seventh grade he decided to go out for the cross-country team. Every day he trained with the team. Although the entire team runs, only the top seven runners have the potential to score points for the school. We didn't tell him he probably would never make the team, so he didn't know.
He continued to run four to five miles a day. Two weeks later, the names of the team runners were called. Joey was number six on the list. (31)He was in seventh grade, while the other six team members were all eighth-graders. We never told him he shouldn't expect to make the team. We never told him he couldn't do it... so he didn't know. He just did it.

听力原文: I read in the newspaper the other day that we tell between two hundred and three hundred lies every day. It makes me wonder if honesty is still important.
There are so many times when we just seem to expect people to be dishonest rather than honest. We expect individuals to try to take advantage of other people whenever they can. And we sometimes expect politicians not always to be honest in their dealings. And we even expect students, sometimes, to cheat on exams or to do things to help their scores. I wonder that if it's really fair to these people, because I still think there are honest people.
The other day a very good friend of mine and I were in a restaurant. When the cashier gave him back his money after we got out of the restaurant, he realized that he had ten or fifteen dollars more than he was supposed to have. He didn't even hesitate at all. He went right back in and gave it back, and of course, the cashier was very happy.
But, I was pleasantly surprised, because it means that there really are people running around who are honest.

W: I can't believe it! She is gorgeous. Surely she turned you down ...
M: She said yes! We have a date for tonight, so she agreed to meet me here.
W: Really? Where are you taking her?
M: I want everything to be perfect, so I'm taking her to that fancy French restaurant we went to last Thanksgiving.
W: You must be joking! That place costs an arm and a leg!
M: Like I said, I want everything to be perfect, Hmm, I wonder what's keeping her?
W: Well, you can't expect her to be absolutely punctual.
M: I told her Friday night at 7:00.
W: Tom, today is Saturday.
M: What? You can't be serious!
W: She is not coming.

People ask me, "What's a good tip?" I like to get 15% of the bill. So if a customer has to pay $20.00 for her dinner, I like to get about $3. 00 for a tip. Sometimes I expect 20% if I did a lot work for the customer. But do you know something? Very often it's the person you work the most for who gives you the smallest tips.
Once I looked up "tipping" in a dictionary. It said that the letters in the word "tip" stand for "To Insure Promptness". No one knows if that is the real meaning of "tip", but it makes sense to me. If we know a regular customer is a good tipper, then we make sure he gets good service. But if someone gives small tips, we aren't in a hurry to bring him food or get his drinks. So remember, be nice to your waitress and she'll be nice to you.
The main aim of the speaker is to ______.
A.explain the derivation of the word "tip"
B.illustrate why difficult customers give bad tips
C.put forward reasons for a salary increase
D.indicate how one can get better service
