听力原文: Watching movies is a good way to improve your listening: I would stress the usefulness of repetition. So watch a DVD of an English-language film with Chinese subtitles. Then,a week or so later, watch the film again with the subtitles covered up.This time, you will know broadly what the characters are trying to say, which will help your brain link the English words with their meanings.Of course, you can pause and rewind the film if there are certain bits that really puzzle you.
The next step would be to find a way to listen to the soundtrack of the film without watching it.You should know the scenes and the story well by now,so by removing the pictures your brain will really focus on the language spoken.
Before you do any of this, think carefully about what film you want to use to practice your listening. If you want to learn American English,be sure to watch a film set in the USA.If you choose a really well-regarded film, one that has won lots of Academy Awards, for example, you will probably be able to buy the screenplay of the film, which will be very useful to you.
Lastly, choose a film that you are not going to get tired of if you watch it three times!
This is a very satisfying way to practice your listening. You will really feel that you are improving.
What message does the speaker try to convey in this passage?
A.One can improve listening by watching movies.
B.Everybody wants to improve listening nowadays.
C.There is a good way to memorize vocabularies.
D.One needs to work hard to improve English.

听力原文: It is not surprising that people hardly ever associate Britain with wine and in fact it may astonish you to learn that grapes are grown broadly in England and nearly 200,000 bottles of wine were sold in 1975. It is nothing new in growing grapes in Britain, in spite of the climate. The Romans planted the first vines about A.D. 300 and for a long time people always drank home-produced wines. What destroyed the English wine industry was not so much a change in the climate as the fact that an English king, Henry Ⅱ, inherited the Bordeaux area of France as part of his dominions since the twelfth century and the imported wine provided a great deal of competition. The English wine industry did not disappear, however, until the sixteenth century, when the monks, who had been the main producers in the meantime, had been taken away their estates by Henry Ⅷ. The new owner let the vineyards die out. But now English people, probably due to their memories of holidays by the Mediterranean, drink more wine than ever, and the new industry is now developing at a modest but consistent rate.
______ may not be responsible for the ruin of the wine industry in Britain.
A.The decline of the quality of the British wine
B.The English king, Henry Ⅱ
C.The English king, Henry ⅥⅡ
D.The imported wine's competition and the change of climate
听力原文: Last month big leap in new job, some 300, 000 plus, is a huge increase over what the country has seen in the past 6 months when the average growth has been just 75, 000 new jobs a month. For a closer look at what's happening, we turn to Lisa Lynch, an economics professor at Tofts University.
M: Welcome. Lisa Lynch, when you look at these numbers, do you think job creation is on the rise?
W: It certainly is. It was a great report. It indicates that the job market, broadly speaking, has turned the corner after 3 very long, lean years. I think we are going to see improvement. It's not only the March gain. It was gain in January and February. They were both revised higher, and moreover, the job gains were very broadly-based across many industries. It was a very positive report.
M: What do you see in the numbers? Who's getting the new jobs?
W: As I mentioned, when we looked at the numbers, "we are seeing employment across the board in all sectors, with one important exception, and that's in manufacturing. Well, we do not have any job loss in manufacturing sector for the first time in 44 months. We did not see pick up in the manufacturing sector, but we saw restaurant and hotel workers being added on. We saw workers in supermarket being added on. Part of that reflects the settlement of the grocery stores strike out California. We saw workers in the health care sector and hospitals being added on. We saw business services adding employees. So in general, with the very important exception of manufacturing, we are seeing job growth across all of these different types of occupations.

W: (25) Isetan is one of our partners in the Japanese companies, as Mitsui is one of our partners. There is a group of some of the best business partners that we could have, who together understand what the mission is, and to really take full advantage of the opportunities that are there in Japan and Southeast Asia for us. And we're doing the same in Europe. The plan is to globalize, you know. And we are doing, we are mirroring the same strategy in Europe as in Asia.

听力原文: Broadly speaking, there are two types of paintings: representational and abstract. The former portrays specific, recognizable physical objects.
For most of history, the primary purpose of painting had been to portray images. Starting with the Post-Impressionists, however, the emphasis began to shift to unconscious feeling.
There are two types of abstract paintings. "Abstracted" paintings may not look realistic, but you can get an idea of what you are looking at. "Pure" abstract paintings are just shapes, colors, lines, patterns, and so on.
In truth, there is a lot more to abstract art than what meets the eye. To truly appreciate a work of art, you need to understand there must be context involved and a particular environment created. More importantly, art allows us indirect access to our inner psyche. Great art affords a way to get in touch with the unconscious part of our existence, even if we don't realize what we are doing.
The reason abstract art has the potential to be so powerful is that it keeps the conscious distractions to a minimum. This, of course, only works if you cooperate with the artist. If you are to truly appreciate a work of art, you must be willing to let yourself go, to put yourself in the hands of the artist, so to speak, and let him take you wherever he wants.

听力原文: A recent survey released by the Modern Language Association of America (MLA) and funded by the United States Department of Education showed interest in foreign language study at US colleges and universities has increased broadly since 2002. The survey includes data from 2,795 US colleges and universities measuring enrollments in the study of (26) 219 languages other than English, from the most popular, including Spanish, French and German, to less commonly studied languages such as Navajo, Farsi, and Welsh. The figures reflect a major push toward internationalization on college campuses, more government support for language study and simply more interest from students. Over four years, total enrollment in language courses has grown 12.9 percent. Spanish remains the most popular subject, up 10.3 percent since 2002 and nearly four times more popular than French. (27) Arabic is the fastest-growing major language, breaking the top 10 for the first time. The number of institutions offering Arabic has nearly doubled. More than 200 less-common languages are now taught on college campuses. Enrollment in those courses is up one-third in the four years covered by the MLA study. "This significant growth in language study, and the diversity of languages being studied, is very good news for education in the US," said Rosemary G. Feal, executive director of the MLA. (28) "Students increasingly see their futures taking place in a multilingual world, and they want language preparation to help them function in that world. "

28.Why is there an increasing number of students start to learn a foreign language?
