Just where exactly is my home? In Britain of course. I was born here, grew up here—I had n

o choice in the matter. From an early age I got used to the way of life here—after all, how could I survive if I didn’t? I came in contact with the British, I never felt any hostility towards them; I never wanted to cause any offense. But what have I in my turn received? Racial discrimination. This has. been embodied in countless incidents.

It was in middle school that racial discrimination was most obvious. I was often the victim of racial taunts. After undergoing such a humiliation, I would feel a mixture of anger and depression. However, the worst thing was knowing hell well that even if I reported this to a teacher. It would be to no avail. Outside school, racial discrimination is far subtler. Some English—it's all over their face.

Of course, a British person will probably think I'm paranoid or just too sensitive, a depressive even. Perhaps the latter may have some truth in it. Nevertheless, it is reality that has created this aspect of my character. Besides, how could the average British person possibly understand?

Sometimes, doing my best does not necessarily lead to success. Often, this is not duc to myself, but duc to the environment. It's as though I'm a second class citizen. Although my passport is British, I'm a nevertheless Chinese. Is Britain really my country?

According to the writer's description, he/she must be ______.

A.black

B.white

C.brown

D.yellow

There are many CD burners on the market and I think my suggestion would be to stop at a re
tail store like CompUSA where they have knowledgeable personnel and talk to one of the sales people there about your wants and needs. I think in that respect they would be able to suggest one to fit them. You need not purchase it there. I would shop around for price if that is a concern, but talking to someone who can assist you in exactly what YOU need is of utmost importance. I believe in not buying more than you need, until you become familiar with just what you DO need.

What is the writer's purpose of writing this passage?

A.He means to offer his own suggestion.

B.He means to talk only to special personnel.

C.He means to know what YOU really need.

D.He means to buy only things you DO need.

W: Okay. Can you tell me exactly what happened?

M: Well, I was walking through the park yesterday when this woman knocked me right off my feet, grabbed my stuff, and ran off through the trees.

W: Yeah. Can you describe the woman for me?

M: Yeah. He was about a hundred and ninety centimetres tall...

W: Humm. What else can you tell me?

M: Well, the person ... had a beard.

W: Ah! What was, uh, taken ... exactly?

M: Well, just my left shoe. Bizzare, isn't it?

W: Ah. The "bearded woman" has struck again!

M: The "bearded woman"?

W: Yeah. It's this man who dresses up like a woman and, for some unknown reason, removes the left shoe from his victims. He's really quite harmless, though, and he usually returns the shoe to the crime scene a couple of days later.

ose, can you?

M: Well, I can't exactly go to hang with my friends at some of the places we used to go to, and just basically raise hell and have a whole bunch of fun. I can't do that any more because it's not good for the public to see that. It's not good for me.

M: I think that is more important than just my golf. I think my golf is merely a vehicle to influence people

M: Keep winning.

W: But you know, at a certain point, doesn't lose its thing... ?
