Read the sentences and choose the correct ones. Brenda has just moved to a new school and has made a new friend, Paula. They are sitting in a snack bar after school talking. Paula asks Brenda," Tell me about your family." Brenda: "My family is a rather small one, with only three people, my father, my mother and me. My father is a doctor. My mother is a teacher. My mother is very patient and understanding while my father is not very patient. He is often quite loud and wants things to happen at once. We love each other very much. Although sometimes we might fight about things we feel strongly about, very soon we will change the subject and discuss something else. We're a happy family. How about you? Paula: "I have a big family with seven people, my grandparents, parents, two older brothers and me. We all live together in a big house. It is often very noisy in our house, especially at dinner time. Grandfather has a loud voice. But it is nice having my grandparents living with us. That means that when I come home from school there is always somebody there for me. We take care of one another, share housework, and often communicate all together. My brothers help me with problems I have with homework and I help them with problems they have with girls."

A、Brenda's father is patient.

Read and choose the best answer. Transcribing(抄写) the Minutes Begin this process as soon as possible. It's best to transcribe the official minutes immediately after the meeting, when events are still fresh in your mind. Use a computer to type up your meeting notes. You may already have done this if you used a laptop at the meeting. Save your notes and begin a new document for the minutes so you can compare your notes and minutes side by side. Format (使格式化)your notes into neat paragraphs. Each new motion, decision, or point of order should be in its own paragraph. As you format them, make sure that you: 1. Use correct spelling and grammar. Use a spellchecker if you need to. 2. Use the same tense throughout. Use the past or present tense, but never switch between them in the same document. 3. Are objective(客观的) as possible. Your own opinion should be deductible from the minutes. You are trying to create an objective record for everyone to use. 4. Use simple, exact language. Any vague(含糊的) language should be replaced with precise wording. Flowery descriptions should be removed entirely. 5. Include only actions taken, not discussions. Unless you've been asked to record discussions, you should focus on what was done, not what was said. 6. Number the pages for ease of reference. Distribute a draft of your minutes to members. Send a copy to each member using the contact information on the sign in sheet. If you don't have their contact information, the meeting leader should be able to reach them. Get the meeting minutes approved. You may be asked to read the minutes aloud at the next meeting and submit them for approval. If the motion passes, mark that the minutes were accepted. If the minutes are corrected before they are accepted, make the changes in the document and indicate at the end that the minutes were corrected. Don't describe specific corrections. When should the minutes be transcribed?

A、after the meeting

B、immediately after the meeting

C、anytime after the meeting

D、In 2 hours after the meeting

【填空题】Read the following passages, and choose the best answer by making inferences. 1.In Sweden dog owners must pay for any damage their dog does. A Swedish Kennel Club official explains what this means; if your dog runs out on the road and gets hit by a passing car, you, as the owner, have to pay for any damage done to the car, even if your dog has been killed in the accident. From the text it can be inferred that in Sweden ____ . A. dogs are welcome in public places B. keeping dogs means asking for trouble C. many car accidents are caused by dogs D. people care much about dogs 2. One pioneer, in particular, who disagrees is David Tebbutt, the founder of Computertown UK. Although many people see this as a successful attempt to bring people closer to the computer, David does not see it that way. He says that Computertown UK was formed for just the opposite reason, to bring computers to people and make them "people -literate."...People don't have to learn computer terms, but the experts have to explain in plain language. The computers are becoming "people- liberate". We can infer from the text that "computer-literate" means _____ . A. being able to afford a computer B. being able to write computer programs C. working with the computer and finding out its value D. understanding the computer and knowing how to use it 3.It doesn't surprise us to hear of a 29-year-old university president or a 35-year-old grandmother , or a 70-year-old man who has become a father for the first time. A. normal B. wonderful C. unbelievable D. unreasonable 4. Robert Friedlander, an American, arrived in Xi'an on his bicycle trip across Asia which started last December in New Delhi, India. •Read the article below about work and leisure.

•Choose the correct word to fill each gap from A, B, C or D on the opposite page.

•For each question (21-30), mark one letter (A, B, C or D) on your Answer Sheet.

Leisure Time

There are some people who really do live for their work and lead totally fulfilled lives with this as their only or main focus. Are you one of them? If not, are you (21) enough attention to your need for time away from work?

There are two big problems here. One is finding a job that does not involve excessive hours, a job where you are still (22) seriously even if you don't frequently work late. The other is deciding how you want to spend your leisure time. If circumstances are conspiring to squeeze that last bit of precious (23) time out of your week, then (24) on to some time, even one hour a week, as sacred. Build it into your diary and never let anyone (25) you out of it. Even if it means doing an extra hour earlier in the week, it's worth it.

Another (26) is to try to change the status quo. It is often middle management who want to see us at our desks 24 hours a day, (27) of output, whereas more objective senior managers may (28) that going home on time is a more productive long-term strategy. Perhaps it's time for us to (29) a stand. Even if, in the short term, we cannot work fewer hours and so cannot find the leisure time we need, then at least we can bear it in (30) as an aim for the future.

(21)

A.setting

B.paying

C.putting

D.holding
