第2题
Too often young people get themselves employed quite by accident, not knowing what lies in
the way of opportunity for promotion, happiness and security. As a result, they are employed doing jobs that afford them little or no satisfaction. Our school leavers face so much competition that they seldom care what they do as long as they can earn a living. Some stay long at a job and learn to like it; others quit from one to another looking for something to suit them. The young graduates who leave the university look for jobs that offer a salary up to their expectation. Very few go out into the world knowing exactly what they want and realizing their own abilities. The reason behind all this confusion is that there never has been a proper vocational guidance in our educational institution. Nearly all grope (摸索) in the dark and their chief concern when they look for a job is to ask what salary is like. They never bother to think whether they are suited for the job or, even more important, whether the job suits them. Having a job is more than merely providing yourself and your dependants with daily bread and some money for leisure and entertainment. (12) It sets a pattern of life and, in many ways, determines social status in life, selection of friends, leisure and interest.

In choosing a career you should first consider the type of work which will suit your interest. Nothing is more pathetic than taking on a job in which you have no interest, for it will not only discourage your desire from succeeding in life but also ruin your talents and ultimately make you an emotional wreck (受到严重伤害的人) and a bitter person.

The reason why some people are unlikely to succeed in life is that they______.

A.have ruined their talents

B.have taken on an unsuitable job

C.think of nothing but their salary

D.are not aware of their own potential

Ideally, the teacher-student relationship at universities is characterized【51】trust. The "
honor system," imposed by the teacher and the university, demands that the student【52】honest in all areas of school work. Thus,【53】on tests, plagiarizing in written work, presenting others' ideas as original, and【54】in homework completed by someone are all prohibited.

Violation of the honor system can result in a student's failing a course, having a permanent record of the violation placed in the student's school files, or even being【55】from the university. Many students are also aware that they can jeopardize their rapport with fellow students if they are【56】. Students who【57】may lose the respect of other students, particularly those who study for exams and work independently. When leaving the classroom while students are【58】an exam, an instructor may or may not say, "I expect you all to abide【59】the honor system." Even if the words are not stated, the student is expected to work【60】and not to share answers.

Relationships between students in the classroom can be cooperative or competitive. International students should not hesitate to ask for help if it is【61】. There are courses,【62】, where grades are【63】in relation to other students' scores. Therefore, in classes where such a grading "curve" is used, students may be【64】to share lecture notes or information for fear【65】their own grades will suffer.

There are other reasons for the presence of【66】among students. A high grade point average is needed for【67】to superior graduate schools. Students feel pressure to achieve high grades when there are relatively few openings in graduate programs.【68】addition, when facing a competitive job market, graduates may be judged on the【69】of their grade point average and faculty recommendations. Ultimately, it is the student who is responsible for succeeding in this【70】system.

听力原文: The interpretation of dreams has been a favorite activity of people for as long
as we have had recorded history. Some of these dream interpretations have become famous, and some, like the European' psychologist Sigmund Freud, felt that all dreams have meanings which relate to our personal relationships with family members and friends.

Good dreams include those in which we see ourselves succeeding in some difficult or pleasant activity such as singing, dancing, talking with our friends, or experiencing the happiness which may not occur in our waking hours. Many persons report dreams of competing in athletic competitions or music competitions. The performance in these events can go beyond anything we might experience in reality. Who among us has not dreamed of spending pleasant hours with our real or imaginary lover, enjoying his or her company in ways known only to those who have loved'? Interpreters of such dreams give varied meanings, most of which are probably not very reliable. But, we often awake from good dreams in a good mood, rested and ready to face the day.

Bad or unpleasant dreams include those which frighten us, recall unpleasant experiences from our lives, or present problems for which there is no evident solution. Dreams of failing an exam at school, dreams of losing a job or a good friend, dreams of accidents or death of a loved one in our family, etc, are unsettling and not easily understood. Some dream experts believe these dreams are now a threatening way to face a problem from real life. They give us a way to deal with the problem so that we may find it less stressful in our waking hours.

(33)

A.What they have regretted for a long time.

B.Their relationships with families and friends.

C.What they have expected too much.

D.The things they have experienced during their childhood.
