听力原文: Today about 70 countries use Daylight Savings Time(DST). Daylight Savings Tim

听力原文: Today about 70 countries use Daylight Savings Time(DST). Daylight Savings Time was first introduced during World War I in Australia. During the world wars, DST was used for the late summers beginning January 1917 and 1942, the full summers beginning September 1942 and 1943. In 1967, Tasmania experienced a drought. The State Government introduced one hour of daylight saving that summer as a way of saving power and water. Tasmanians liked the idea of daylight saving and the Tasmanian Government has declared daylight saving each summer since 1968. Persuaded by the Tasmanian Government, all states except two passed a Law in 1971, for a test use of daylight saving. In 1972, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria joined Tasmania for regular daylight savings, but Queensland did not do so until 1989. Tasmania, Queensland and South Australia have had irregular plans, often changing their dates due to politics or festivals. For example, in 1992, Tasmania extended daylight savings by an extra month while South Australia began extending daylight savings by two weeks for the Adelaide Festival. Special daylight savings plans were made during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The differences in daylight savings in Australia continue to cause serious problems in transport and many other social activities. It also reduces the number of hours in the working day that are common to all centres in the country. In particular, time differences along the east coast cause major difficulties, especially for the broadcasters of national radio and television. Questions 19 to 22 are based on the passage you have just heard. 19. What was the purpose of Daylight Savings Time introduced in Tasmania? 20. Which state was the last to use DST according to the passage? 21. What can we learn about DST in some Australian states? 22. What do we know about the use of DST from the passage?19.

A.Victoria.

B.Queensland.

C.South Australia.

D.New South Wales.

听力原文:W: Todays Arts Report features Dan Parker of the American Indian Dance Theatre. Mr Parker, I understand your troupe performs traditional music and dance from many different Native American cultures. Can you give us an idea of some of the dances youll be doing in your performance tonight? M: Certainly. Well be doing one thats a war dance. Originally it was a story-telling device to recount battles. Another is the grass dance performed by the Plains Indians, where they actually flatten tall field grass to prepare it for a ceremony. W: Since your dancers are from many different tribes, how can you be sure the dances are done correctly? M: Everything we do has been approved by the elders of our tribes. Thats partly because we dont necessarily know each others styles or dances. But its also because its hard to get complete agreement — even within the same tribe — about exactly how the dance should be done. W: Anyone who attends one of your performances will notice that your company goes to a lot of trouble to provide detailed explanations of the origin of the dances, the music, the costumes, and so forth. Could you explain to our listeners why you do this? M: Good question. There are always concerns that traditional dances performed in a theatre are nothing more than a spectacle. Our explanations show that in our cultures dance is custom rather than entertainment. We also want to make it clear to our audience that we are not performing any dances used for holy ceremonies. Questions 13 to 15 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 13. What is the main topic of the conversation? 14. What is the purpose of the interview? 15. Why are the dances approved by the elders of the tribes?13.

A.To celebrate the opening of a new theatre.

B.To inform. people about a performance.

C.To broadcast an awards ceremony.

D.To announce a meeting of the tribal elders.

听力原文: When Andrea Peterson landed her first job teaching, she faced the daunting task of creating a music programme with almost no money for equipment or supplies in a climate where standards-based learning was the focus and music just provided a break for students and teachers. For her drive and creativity in overcoming those challenges, shes been named National Teacher of the Year. Principal Waynes Kettler said hes worked with many outstanding teachers in his 22 years as an educator, but Peterson is "just that one step above anybody Ive ever worked with before." Kettler and others at Monte Cristo Elementary School talk about the ways she has introduced the learning from other classrooms into her music programme and her creativity in working around things such as the lack of money for new music. When students were reading S.E. Hintons novel The Outsiders in their regular classroom, Peterson helped them write a 30-minute play with scenes from the book. Then they chose three Broadway tunes that focused on race, equality and social justice, the themes of the book. Peterson composed two other songs herself after classroom discussions about the play and the book. The honor means a lot to residents of Granite Foils. Its inspiring to know that people from small towns even win national honors. As National Teacher of the Year, Peterson will spend more years outside the classroom, as a national and international spokeswoman for education. She said its essential for schools to offer classes such as art or music and physical education because for some kids one of those subjects is the only thing that attracts them to come back to school day after day. Questions 16 to 19 are based on the passage you have just heard. 16. What happened when Peterson began her teaching career? 17. What is the most important reason that Peterson won the award? 18. Which is an example of Petersons way of teaching music? 19. What do we learn about Petersons opinion?16.

A.She concerned herself with current social problems.

B.She motivated students to learn music with her creativity.

C.She has taught music at the elementary school for 22 years.

D.She made great efforts to amuse students" interest in literature.

听力原文: Diet, diet, diet! It gets to be a constant battle for many of us to stay fit and healthy. But diets dont always allow us to learn new eating habits, improve our self-image, or make lifestyle. changes. Developing good eating habits and proper exercise is a permanent issue. And its the main topic of this workshop. In order to keep a healthy diet and minimise the risk of disease, its essential to eat a diet that consists of low-fat foods and to maximise energy with carbohydrates. Beef, nuts, oils, and most dairy products are rich in fat, so you should eat less of those; while pastry, rice, potatoes, and bread contain almost no fat and are a high-energy source of complex carbohydrates. You know that many food manufactures use sugar to make low-fat or fat-free foods taste good, but dont worry too much about that. You dont necessarily "get fat" by eating sugar, since sugar is an indirect fat. When you exercise, carbohydrates are the first calories to burn. If you want to burn off fat, its good to do some sort of aerobic exercise such as biking, swimming, running, or fast walking. But you have to keep doing this exercise for at least twenty minutes because it takes about that long before we start to burn fat. And then the effect of burning fat decreases after 45 minutes of exercise. So if you do some sort of aerobic exercise for three to four days a week for about thirty to forty minutes, youll have an effective schedule for reducing weight. Questions 20 to 22 are based on the passage you have just heard. 20. According to the speaker, which should you eat more? 21. What does the speaker say is burned at the beginning of exercise? 22. According to the speaker, what is the most effective exercise time schedule for reducing weight?20.

A.Carbohydrates.

B.Indirect fat.

C.Body fluid.

D.Fat.
